• Preparing cost estimates for construction projects while coordinating with the Project Manager and other members of the construction team to develop an accurate estimate of the project’s costs. This estimate is used to determine the project budget and to make decisions about how to proceed with the project.

• Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the construction project are accounted for in the estimate. This includes materials, labor, equipment, permits, and any other costs that may be incurred during the project. The Senior Estimator must also consider any risks that may impact the cost of the project.

• Work closely with the Project Manager to develop a realistic schedule for the completion of the construction project. 

• Researching and gathering data on material, labor, and equipment costs

• Analyzing data to determine cost trends

• Identifying potential risks and estimating their impact on the project cost

• Prepare cost estimates for new commercial construction projects.

• Work with Project Manager and Superintendent to ensure that all costs are accounted for.

• Review bids from subcontractors and suppliers.

• Negotiate pricing with these vendors and award contracts as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of all costs associated with each project.

• Prepare reports detailing their findings and present them to upper management as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review set of drawings to determine trades required for projects.
  • Perform quantitative take off utilizing plan take off software (PlanSwift).
  • Review Specifications and identify proprietary materials and vendors.
  • Solicitation and qualification of subcontractor’s quotes.
  • Assist estimators with research in specific geographic areas to establish market factors affecting pricing of labor and materials.
  • Perform other general responsibilities as required.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred, but will consider other combinations of education or experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an Estimator on commercial construction projects is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical documents.
  • Experience in all Windows software applications.
  • Experience working on restaurants and retail is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong communications skills with both external and internal partners and team members.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment and hit deliverable deadlines on a consistent basis.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient with computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, & Microsoft Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong Organizational skills & able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly motivated to meet deadlines consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to read blueprints and plans is a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills are also required.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable.
