Acts as the principal technology expert for Epic Cogito Reporting tools and their subsystems, utilizing a thorough understanding of healthcare analytics, data presentation, and patient movement solutions.
- Provides comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of the project development cycle.
- Works closely with client management to identify and specify the complex business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments (e.g., host based, distributed systems, client server), software, hardware, technologies and tools, etc.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective solutions for the systems design.
- Performs analysis and system design. May code new or modified programs, reuse existing code through the use of program development software alternatives and/or integrates purchased solutions.
- Documents, tests, implements and provides on-going support for the applications.
- Provides highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies that assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.
- Acts as expert technical resource to development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process.
- Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Masters degree preferred.
- Eight years of diverse work experience in IT with a minimum of six years experience in systems analysis and application program development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Experience includes creating content to display Epic data using front-end tools such as Radar Dashboards, Reporting Workbench (RWB), Cogito SQL (RWB SQL), SlicerDicer, Tableau, as well as back-end tools like Clarity - Oracle, Caboodle - SQL, and integrating third-party data into Clarity/Caboodle.
- Preferred experience includes working with Epic data focused on service lines/applications such as Command Center/Patient Flow, including Grand Central, Logistics, Transfer Center, Referrals, Radiant, Optime, ClinDoc, Orders, and Stork.
Licensing and Certification Requirements
Applicants must have at least one or a combination of the following certifications:
- Epic Cogito Fundamentals, Clarity Fundamentals, Caboodle Fundamentals, Access Data Model Certification, Clinical Data Model Certification.
- Preferred: Caboodle Development for Clarity Data, SlicerDicer Customer Build Badge, Cogito SQL Badge, Relevant Application Training

Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $109,000.00 - $163,695.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
