English Language Arts Curriculum Architect - Contract Role

Job Description
SUMMARY The English Language Arts Curriculum Architect (CA) works closely with other Curriculum Architects, as well as Visual Design, Print Design, Media, Editorial, User Experience, and production support team members to create instructional content, including writing, storyboarding, and reviewing lesson activities, assessments, and instructional guides to meet the goals of specified learning objectives. The CA may also be asked to participate in the early blueprinting/prototyping phases of a project, contribute new ideas to products and processes, and work to ensure quality and consistency throughout a project. The CA will also support customer communication around the use of the curriculum. As a seasoned professional, they are technically credible and skilled at applying knowledge in their discipline to solutions, and can adhere to industry principles as defined by evidence-based practices and the Company’s style guidelines.

- Collaborates to determine the strategic approach to course structure, and helps create and maintain Scope and Sequences for new courses across one or more grade levels;
- Collaborates on the planning of content modules and design materials for multi-year curriculum to meet content standards;
- Coordinates with other Curriculum Architects, Design teams, and production support teams to develop prototypes and templates for activities and lessons (online and offline);
- Plans and writes text designed to guide a non-specialist adult through the steps needed to coach a student through a lesson;
- Develops and revises storyboards, assessments, and hands-on activities in collaboration with other team members;
- Designs and writes content for instructional soundness, pace of presentation, age-appropriateness, consistency of tone and style, accessibility, and general readability;
- Provides visual design specifications (including storyboards) for corresponding graphics, photos, illustrations, and animations;
- Works with Visual Designers to create and develop interactive assets and materials, as well as develop visual standards relating to content;
- Uploads content into various corporate systems, such as Learnosity, BrightSpot, OLS, DAM, and Sharepoint.
- Consults with Shared Services (e.g. editors, production leads, visual designers) to discuss standards and consistency of content, style, visuals, and documents, coordinating content across units and lessons;
- Participates in usability testing of instructional materials and incorporates testing results into content design;
- Reacts to feedback from users and academic reviewers;
- Stays apprised of current research and best practices related to curriculum, instructional design, and assessment
- Trains/mentors new and/or junior CA’s.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
