ICF is growing its energy program implementation team to support new and existing contracts in the region. What you will be doing:  

  • Researching commercial, industrial, agriculture, and residential energy technologies that have the potential to reduce energy consumption and reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) in California. 
  • Working as part of a cross functional team consisting of engineers, researchers, and subcontractors to research gas technologies with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) level of 5 or higher. 
  • Designing and reviewing research plans and scopes of work (SOWs) for projects meant to identify and quantify technical and softer market barriers for emerging technologies. 
  • Reviewing and/or analyzing data to quantify savings and GHG reductions for emerging technologies. 
  • Co-authoring reports and research papers related to project findings. 
  • Performing field audits to understand and document the customer’s current operations. 
  • Performing technical calculations to quantify the baseline and measure case conditions and potential savings, cost, and other relevant parameters.  
  • Providing technical support to programs that utilize custom and deemed measures. 
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 5% to 10% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical sciences.  (Candidates can substitute one year of experience for each year of education)
  • 2+ years of experience in energy efficiency. 
  • 2+ years of experience in performing engineering calculations related to energy efficiency, electrification, water conservation and/or renewable energy or equivalent experience from an advanced degree in engineering or physical sciences.  
  • Knowledge and experience with energy efficiency equipment including HVAC, lighting, pumping, water heating, cooking and process. 
  • Field experience working on energy efficiency, DERs, electrification, renewables or similar, including commissioning, M&V, audits, surveys, etc. 

What we would like you to have:  

  • Technical consulting experience.  
  • Background conducting energy efficiency or similar research. 
  • Advanced degree in engineering or physical sciences.  
  • Licensed engineer.  
  • CEM certification.  
  • Knowledge of whole building modeling tools, including Energy Plus, eQuest. EnergyPro, and/or other whole building energy modeling tools.  
  • Demonstrated familiarity with deemed and custom project requirements.  
  • Demonstrated experience with large commercial and industrial processes and equipment.  
  • Familiarity with TRMs, including the California ETRM. 
  • Familiarity with Building and Appliance Energy Codes, including California Title 24 and Title 20. 
  • Experience writing, publishing, and presenting technical papers.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$80,743.00 - $137,263.00
