Summary

The Divisional Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for leading and driving annuity sales and overseeing a team of external wholesalers.  The DSM will lead with integrity, foster a high-performance culture, and provide strategic direction to achieve sales goals.  This role requires a proven leader with deep annuity product knowledge, sales expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement through process execution and winning attitude.

Main Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales plan aligned with organizational goals, ensuring growth in fixed, indexed, and variable annuities.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of wholesalers, focusing on sales effectiveness, territory coverage, and goal achievement.
  • Foster a results-driven environment with clear performance expectations, ongoing feedback, and recognition of achievements.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities and guide the team in positioning solutions effectively.
  • Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance coaching for external wholesalers to enhance product knowledge, sales skills and business planning and execution.
  • Implement a sales process that includes metrics, reviews, activity tracking, and performance improvement plans.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration between internal and external teams to drive coordinated efforts and maximize sales outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to optimize support resources for the sales teams.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and credibility at industry events and meetings.
  • Serve as a trusted leader with a strong commitment to ethical sales practices and professional integrity.
  • Build and grow relationships with key distribution partners, including financial advisors, and banks and broker dealers.
  • Conduct team sales calls and meetings to drive message and focus.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in annuity sales (fixed, fixed indexed, and variable annuities is preferred).
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing sales teams, including goal setting, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of annuity products, competitive positioning, and regulatory compliance in the industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Process-oriented mindset with the ability to implement and manage scalable sales practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced certifications preferred.
  • Appropriate securities and insurance licenses required.

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position is $160,000/year. The position is also eligible for variable compensation.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
