Location: Remote - Canada (Candidates based in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia or willing to relocate)

 

Description: 

WES is looking for a Director, Workforce Development who has a proven, progressive track record leading positive business outcomes through workforce and organization development, and change management knowledge, expertise and implementation. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, this leader will partner with business leaders, to identify comprehensive workforce strategies, and works with the People team to implement these strategies.  This critical role will oversee a team focused on the future orientation of WES.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Leads the design, development and implementation of programs, policies and strategies tailored to meet organizational development needs and program goals
  • Provides consultative services to the divisions and departments regarding future focus, programs and approaches
  • Partners with business leaders to help them define their long-term workforce plans and strategies, designing pathways and processes to meet these
  • Design enterprise-wide full-cycle organizational, workforce development and change management processes
  • Develop Organizational Design processes, methods and frameworks
  • Develop frameworks for a robust succession planning process, inclusive of career and talent pathways, and upskilling and reskilling programs
  • Work with divisional and department leaders to set, monitor and evaluate relevant goals and metrics tied to enterprise level strategies and objectives that will drive high performance, excellence and support the organization in realizing its mission, vision and values
  • Conducts comprehensive needs assessments and gap analyses, overseeing the collection and analysis of complex data along with statistical analyses to determine programing needs
  • Identify, interrogate and develop talent data, dashboards and KPIs for workforce and organizational strategic planning
  • Proactively check in with leaders across departments on concerns or other issues; triage as needed
  • Coaches talent to produce strong leaders; both people managers and individual contributors
  • Partner with the business to drive engagement strategies in alignment with enterprise-wide strategies and business needs
  • Serve as a leader within the people function, driving strategy and future people initiatives
  • Create and define measurable outcomes within the programs and activities
  • Evaluate strategies and programs to measure the achievement of established goals
  • Leverage external best practices, and evolving market trends that are the best fit for WES

 

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in leading, designing and supporting Workforce, Organizational or People Development programs, with at least 5 years' experience in senior leadership roles
  • Master's degree in organizational development/organizational behavior/workforce development. Related experience considered in lieu of education
  • Experience with tools identification and implementation that support and enable workforce and organizational development programs and processes
  • Experience in change management techniques and approaches
  • Experience in utilizing data to drive decisions and inform programming
  • Experience working closely with executive leadership, with ideally experience preparing and delivering to Executive and Board Committees
  • Superior presentation skills; creating PPT slides and presenting to audiences
  • Possess superior communication, collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrate deep business acumen and gain/leverage insights of WES and its market
  • Be recognized as a trusted advisor to senior leadership
  • Have multi-sector experience and experience working with a globally diverse workforce
  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of OD and change management methodologies
  • Can oversee, manage and mentor subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines
  • Has strong external insights and networks to leverage external best practices, evolving market trends that are the best fit for WES
