The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Solution Engineering Programs & Innovation to lead and scale critical functions that enhance the effectiveness of our Solution Engineering (SE) team across all segments and markets. This role will oversee the development and execution of key programs, including our demo environment strategy, industry and technical SME functions, and integration initiatives. The leader in this role will manage a team of SMEs, integration managers, and potentially demo engineers in the future, ensuring they have the resources and structure needed to drive impact.
This role requires a strategic thinker with strong technical acumen, program management skills, and the ability to collaborate across Sales, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success. The ideal candidate will bring a vision for how to optimize and scale SE programs that improve customer engagements, accelerate sales cycles, and showcase our technical differentiation.
Key Responsibilities
Own and scale key SE programs that enhance technical presales effectiveness, including demo environments, technical SMEs, and integration initiatives.
Lead and develop a team of industry and technical SMEs, integration managers, and (potentially) demo engineers, ensuring they drive measurable impact across all sales segments.
Define and execute the strategy for our shared demo environments, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and aligned with customer needs.
Establish and manage an SME framework that enables deep technical and industry expertise to be leveraged across the SE organization.
Drive integration and interoperability initiatives, working closely with product, engineering, and partners to enhance solution capabilities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment between SE initiatives and go-to-market priorities.
Develop and measure program success metrics, ensuring continuous improvement and impact assessment.
The Skillset
To succeed in this role, you will need a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities. You should be comfortable driving cross-functional programs, managing technical teams, and building scalable solutions that enhance the effectiveness of the Solution Engineering function. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, a deep understanding of technical sales, and the ability to translate complex solutions into compelling customer experiences. The key priorities are:
8+ years of experience in Solution Engineering, Technical Presales, or a related field.
Proven track record of leading and scaling technical programs in a high-growth B2B SaaS or enterprise technology environment.
Experience managing technical teams, including SMEs, integration specialists, or demo engineers.
Strong understanding of solution architecture, integrations, and technical sales motions.
Excellent program management skills with the ability to drive cross-functional alignment.
Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management skills.

The First 30 Days
Develop a deep understanding of the existing Solution Engineering programs, demo environments, and SME structure.
Meet with key stakeholders across Sales, Product, Marketing, and Customer Success to understand priorities and pain points.
Evaluate the current state of demo environments, SME coverage, and integration initiatives to identify gaps and opportunities.
Establish relationships with direct reports and assess team structure, strengths, and development areas.
The First 60 Days
Define a strategic roadmap for scaling demo environments, SME capabilities, and integration initiatives.
Identify quick wins for improving the accessibility, reliability, and effectiveness of demo environments.
Outline key processes for how SMEs engage with Solution Engineering teams and the broader go-to-market organization.
Begin implementing initial improvements to technical programs, with an emphasis on scalability and repeatability.
90 Days & Beyond
Launch and operationalize key initiatives, ensuring measurable impact on sales effectiveness and customer engagement.
Establish metrics for program success and begin tracking performance.
Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure that Solution Engineering programs effectively support broader company objectives.
Refine team roles and responsibilities to maximize impact and efficiency.

The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
The Executive Review: A chance to meet an executive and view Flock from a different lens. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
Salary & Equity
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $243,200 and bonus of $60,800 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.
