Overview
The Director of Creditor Strategy is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing creditor negotiation strategies to maximize settlement efficiency, client savings, and overall business performance. This leader will oversee analytics-driven decision-making, ensure alignment with regulatory compliance, and enhance relationships with creditors, collection agencies, and legal entities. The ideal candidate will leverage data models, market insights, and industry best practices to improve recovery rates while mitigating litigation risk and optimizing financial outcomes for clients.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine creditor negotiation strategies to improve settlement rates, optimize settlement percentages, and reduce time-to-settlement.
- Establish segmentation models for different creditors, identifying optimal settlement practices based on historical performance, risk factors, and client deposit behavior.
- Utilize predictive analytics to assess creditor trends, collection behaviors, and litigation risks, adjusting negotiation approaches accordingly.
- Work closely with legal teams to manage pre-legal and high-risk creditor accounts, ensuring proper handling and escalation procedures.
- Oversee creditor portfolio performance metrics, ensuring effective tracking of settlement rates, recovery curves, and overall profitability.
- Lead the development of creditor scoring models that assess risk, settlement likelihood, and expected financial outcomes.
- Monitor trends in charge-offs, delinquencies, and lawsuit activity to refine risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Data Science, and Business Intelligence teams to develop models for prioritizing creditor accounts based on profitability, client success, and operational efficiency.
- Work alongside Workforce Management and Operations to ensure the right negotiators handle high-priority accounts efficiently.
- Partner with Compliance & Legal to ensure creditor engagement strategies adhere to regulatory requirements, including FDCPA, FCRA, and CFPB guidelines.
- Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks to assess the effectiveness of settlement strategies and adjust in real time.
- Implement A/B testing methodologies to refine creditor outreach strategies and optimize response rates.
- Build and maintain relationships with creditors, collection agencies, and third-party partners to facilitate improved settlement outcomes.
- Represent the company in industry conferences, creditor forums, and regulatory discussions to advocate for best practices in debt settlement.

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 4 year of experience leveraging data analytics and predictive modeling to drive creditor negotiation strategies.
- 8 years of experience in debt recovery, creditor negotiations, financial services, or risk management within a debt settlement, collections, or financial institution.
- Strong understanding of debt collection laws, regulations, and creditor behaviors.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and Data Science.
- Experience leading or mentoring teams, showcasing the capacity to develop and inspire talent.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with charge-off, recovery curves, and legal risk assessments.
- Background in financial planning, underwriting, or collections analytics.
- Ability to dashboards to track KPIs.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, or data visualization tools
- Problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering solution-driven results.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including presentations at the executive level.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives from concept to implementation.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with creditors.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment to meet demanding schedules.
- Proven track record of business development success and relationship management skills.
- Some travel to conferences may be required.

Compensation Information
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $94,500 to $114,000.Benefits
