About this job

The Director of CPS Thought Leadership (DTL) plays a critical role for NielsenIQ’s Consumer Panel Services (CPS) team.  In fulfillment of this role, the DTL will have access to the full breadth of NIQ’s data resources.  Goals for this position will be to:

  • Create and build thought-provoking and concise Thought Leadership communications at both the Category level and at the Client level, in alignment with our business goals.
  • Leveraging the created Thought Leadership materials, directly engage with top executives and stakeholders for targeted manufacturers and retailers, to result in discovery sales meetings.
  • Support sales meetings through creation of pre-sale materials to be used as part of sales presentation.

Know our Products:

  • Gain and continue to build a strong understanding of NIQ’s CPS products as well as a cursory understanding of other NIQ differentiated solutions.
    • Consumer Panel
    • Behavioral research (surveys and segmentation work)
    • e-Commerce data solutions
    • Product reference data solutions
    • Store activation data solutions
    • Digital shelf data solutions
    • On Premise alcohol / beverage data solutions
    • NPI Product Insights
    • Media solution(s)
    • Spectra / TDLinx

Know our Clients and their Industries

  • Actively monitor earnings calls and public statements from a list of targeted clients. 
    • Earnings calls:  Capture feedback / concerns from the investment community. Tailor client communications to show how NIQ can uniquely support their needs.
    • Build thorough knowledge & understanding about goals, strategies, opportunities, and related industry trends for the target list of clients, utilizing public forums of information (such as podcasts, internet, company websites, conferences).

Develop Thought Leadership and Engage Target Personas

  • Leverage and personalize NIQ Thought Leadership content.
    • NIQ has an existing Thought Leadership team. This team is focused on global and / or market specific trends.
    • This role will need to take the content from the existing Thought Leadership team and personalize it to a specific category, brand, manufacturer client, retail client, or retail channel within the US market.
    • Additional thought leadership topics may be determined by our team, based upon understanding of business opportunities.
  • Engage directly with our clients’ senior leaders (& other stakeholders) to showcase NIQ’s unique value in the marketplace with the end goal of securing a discovery sales meeting.
    • Utilizing CPS Product Solutions (and other NIQ assets), illuminate Insights & Business Opportunities, showcasing the actions clients can take to make meaningful improvements to their business performance.
    • Executive level communication expertise that appeals to a senior audience.

Sales Support

  • Create customized analyses to aid in the sales pitch demonstrating strength and value of data
  • Participate / Lead client sales presentations
  • Participate in Product Leadership sessions to stay updated on latest developments for sales content/pitch adjustments

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years’ experience in a relevant industry (E-Commerce, CPG, consulting, sales)
  • 2+ years working with consumer panel data within the US
  • 1-3 years' experience partnering with commercial / sales functions
  • Experience in a relevant industry
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Proven ability to transfer insights into action / value
  • Media / marketing experience is preferred
  • Willingness to travel to remote client locations (10% - 15% depending on needs)
  • Enjoy ambiguity and complex business challenges
  • Positive team member through all stages of sales cycle
  • Aggressive self-starter, able to quickly adapt to changing environments
  • Ability to prioritize and demonstrate relentless discipline in achieving goals
  • Familiarity with NielsenIQ tools, applications, and platforms a plus

Additional Information

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation of the following range: $110,000.00 - $135,000.00.  Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a sales-based incentive or performance-based bonus.
