About the Role:Do you believe in the power of storytelling to inspire action and build trust? At 8x8, we’re looking for a seasoned and strategic communications leader to oversee our global communications strategy. Reporting to the Head of Brand & Corporate Marketing, the Director of Communications will lead efforts across public relations, executive and internal communications, and social media to amplify 8x8’s voice and impact on a global scale.

What You’ll Do:Communications Leadership
Design and lead the communications organization: Build a high-performing, world-class communications team that aligns with 8x8’s growth and objectives.
Develop strategic communication plans: Align communication strategies with company objectives to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms and channels, optimizing reach within target audiences.
Lead Global Public Relations
Build and scale a global PR function: Develop and implement a comprehensive PR and communications strategy to drive thought leadership, executive profiles, and customer and partner stories.
Oversee agency collaboration: Partner with the global PR agency to execute creative campaigns, write and manage press releases, highlight customer success stories, integrate social media efforts, and provide data-driven insights on media coverage and share of voice.
Cultivate media relationships: Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers to secure positive coverage that reinforces 8x8’s corporate narrative.
Capitalize on company announcements: Drive a regular cadence of featured business press coverage through impactful storytelling and thought leadership.
Refine crisis communications: Elevate strategies to protect 8x8’s reputation during critical moments, ensuring rapid and effective responses.
Shape Executive and Internal Communications
Coach senior executives: Provide media training, speechwriting, and preparation for public appearances and interviews.
Develop internal communications strategy: Align and engage employees at all levels with 8x8’s objectives, culture, and initiatives.
Elevate company-wide experiences: Enhance all-hands meetings with dynamic storytelling, engaging formats, and seamless execution.
Standardize messaging: Create and maintain frameworks and playbooks to ensure consistency and clarity in executive and internal communications.
Oversee Global Social Media Strategy
Implement social media strategies: Align social media efforts with PR to increase share of voice, brand recognition, and engagement globally.
Create compelling content: Partner with content and PR teams to produce high-quality, engaging materials that amplify 8x8’s key messages.
Analyze performance: Leverage data and insights to optimize strategies and inform broader communications initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Ensure alignment across teams: Work closely with commercial, marketing, legal, research, and regulatory affairs teams to integrate communication efforts seamlessly across functions.
Measurement and Analysis
Optimize performance and ROI: Monitor, measure, and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and tactics, leveraging insights to continually improve performance.
Amplifying market presence: Drive increases in earned media and share of voice through innovative PR strategies.
Building stakeholder relationships: Collaborate with internal teams across product, brand, demand gen, sales, and executive leadership.
Leading global teams and agencies: Manage and mentor a distributed team while overseeing the performance of the global PR agency.
Safeguarding the brand: Protect 8x8’s reputation through robust crisis communications and reputation management.
Aligning strategies with goals: Ensure communications efforts contribute to company OKRs and deliver measurable business results.
Extensive experience: Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years in communications, PR, or related fields.
Global leadership expertise: Proven ability to manage PR programs across multiple regions and drive measurable impact.
Crisis management acumen: Demonstrated ability to refine and execute crisis communications and reputation management strategies.
Strong communication skills: Exceptional written and verbal capabilities, with experience crafting compelling narratives.
Strategic and tactical mindset: Skilled at developing big-picture strategies and executing them effectively.
Social media proficiency: Deep understanding of platforms, trends, and analytics to drive successful campaigns.
Collaboration and influence: Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Executive thought leadership: Managing programs that include speechwriting and high-profile event participation.
Matrixed organizations: Navigating complex structures in the SaaS and Communications markets.
Digital tools expertise: Fluency in tools such as Google Suite, Salesforce, Asana, Miro, and social media analytics platforms.
The compensation range reflects the Company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. 8x8 has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States, which allows us to pay employees competitively and consistently in different geographic markets. The range above reflects the potential base pay across the U.S. for this role; the applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Further, individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience, knowledge, success, education and skills. Base pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including discretionary merit increases, bonus and/or stock. Certain roles have the opportunity to earn sales variable compensation incentives based on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
Salary Ranges:
