As the Director of ODG Governmental Affairs, you will pursue legislative and regulatory adoptions of ODG primarily in workers’ comp and possibly opportunities in disability and auto-casualty. You will build relationships with regulators, legislatures, and influencers to keep them educated on the benefits of ODG adoption.  

You will present the ODG solutions, including the ODG Advantage (Track Record, Methodology, and Customer Experience) at regulatory meetings and public hearings. You will ensure successful implementation post-adoption by working with ODG Implementation, Editorial, Sales, and Account Management departments.  

You will monitor legislative and regulatory initiatives in workers’ comp and participate in public comment and hearing processes. You will Participate in the jurisdictional Guidelines selection and adoption processes; involving ODG staff, consultants, physicians, and supporters as indicated.  

You will Coordinate formal meetings and grassroots outreach to legislators, regulators, advisory committees, stakeholder groups (i.e., business, labor, and medicine) and parties of influence (and their lobbyists) throughout the legislative and/or agency guidelines adoption process from early consideration through and post implementation, as applicable.  

You will Provide regulators and legislators with sample legislation, rules, regulations, forms, procedures, rollout and training programs, assisting in translating the legislative and regulatory language and intent into working documents, policies, and procedures.  

You will facilitate communications between jurisdictions relative to ODG adoptions, outcomes, and success stories. 

You will participate in conferences and committees, IAIABC, SAWCA, WCRI, NCCI, NCOIL, etc. You will be an expert presenter on ODG solutions, process, and benefits to stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Define and manage processes, components and best practices for addressing statutory and regulatory opportunities to expand ODG products and services 
  • Oversee the ODG Strategic Alliance Project Manager in developing and executing OSAP 
  • Provide leadership and expertise to the Account Managers, Implementation Specialists and Clinical Educators through training and development 
  • Develop an at-risk program for state regulatory adoptees ensuring that risk management plans are defined and executed. This includes developing metrics around ODG usage reports to identify at-risk clients (or clients that may need other attention), providing feedback into existing support teams to improve services offered 
  • Work with Sales, Marketing, and Account Management to showcase support services to differentiate our offering from competitors and optimize sales opportunities or identify additional client support needs 
  • Work with AVP for ODG Strategic Solutions/Governmental Affairs to define new support roles based on feedback from clients, both internal and external 
  • Interact with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to define business, financial, and operational requirements and goals 
  • Help train and retain departmental staff when needed 
  • Achieve at least two jurisdictional adoptions per year and prevent any competitive losses. If two jurisdictions do not engage in any guideline adoptions within a given year, this objective will be appropriately and fairly modified by management. 
  • Develop, collect, and manage key department operational and performance metrics, reporting to the AVP for ODG Strategic Solutions/Governmental Affairs and promote positive attitudes, high moral and cooperation within the support team and the division 
  • Adhere to Departmental Policies and Procedures for quality and timeliness of essential role functions 
  • Assist in development of annual department budget and manage budget to achieve established targets 
  • Actively participate in various committees and projects throughout the division 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Experience in regulatory or legislative  
  • Extensive Utilization Management, Case Management, Analytics and/or Claims Management experience in workers’ comp, disability and/or auto [i.e., payer, TPA and/or MCO] including experience in operations 
  • Strong client-facing skills 
  • Evidence of ability to engage and educate both external and internal customers evidenced by client feedback 
  • Ability to assume a consulting role with both internal and external executive management. 
  • Proven ability to identify potential risks to successful product and format implementations and collaborate proactively with other departments to improve success.  
  • Skilled in usage of MS Project and MS Office 
  • Experience with Salesforce and SharePoint  
  • Goal oriented and action-focused, pragmatic, and self-disciplined 
  • Limited travel may be required (average of 12 times per year) 
  • Managerial experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in risk management, data analytics, or clinical degree preferred 
  • Master’s or clinical degree preferred 

 

Pay Range: $145,500-203,400  

Other compensation: Bonus Eligible
