Job Description

The Enterprise Strategy Office (ESO) is responsible for driving our company strategy into action. As part of these efforts the Enterprise Planning and Operations (EPO) team drives risk management and preparedness activity across the enterprise. 

Director, Business Continuity (BC) Planning position will drive enterprise-wide BC planning to ensure the company can continue to deliver its most critical processes and products in times of disruption. Director, Business Continuity Planning, will work closely with the EPO team to continually assess existing and emerging risks, identify and remediate gaps, and drive mitigation actions to enable delivery of our Company strategy. Integration of BC with broader resiliency efforts may involve support of related EPO responsibilities focused on Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Crisis Management, and Critical Asset Protection/Insider Risk as needed. 

 Primary BC (Business Continuity Planning) Responsibilities

  • Drive BC engagements, in partnership with business leaders across the enterprise, to develop and pressure test continuity plans for prioritized areas (e.g. supply chains, manufacturing sites, research operations, clinical trials, financial processes, etc.)

  • Serve as a subject matter expert across the enterprise BC program and implementation lifecycle, including business impact analysis (BIA), BC strategy and plan development, scenario-based exercise design and facilitation, and continued evaluation and improvement.

  • Enable preparedness to recover from disruption through an “all-hazards” risk-based approach (e.g. from natural disasters to cyber-attacks to geopolitical disruptions)

  • Address dependencies and enhance resilience across the organization in partnership with resilience focused teams such as Global Security, IT, HR, Enterprise Risk & others.

  • Communicate priorities, status, and risks to the Enterprise Risk Committee and/or Executive Team.

  • Maintain relationships across internal and external network to inform enhancements to the BC program.

  • Stay current on discipline trends and best practices and provide insights to the organization.

Position Qualifications

Location/Commute:

  • This role is based at our Headquarters site in Rahway, NJ (USA), with a Hybrid setup (combination of an in-office & remote).

  • This position cannot be 100% remote.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree Required.

  • Advanced degree preferred (e.g. MBA)

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years working experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare related industry or within a Business Continuity focused discipline.

  • Proven experience contributing to the development and implementation of a strategic BC program paired with the skills to deliver targeted execution of BC plan development and assessment activities.

  • Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills to simultaneously progress multiple engagements across a variety of stakeholders
