Director, Compliance Program Oversight

A part of the Ethics and Compliance Organization (ECO), the Compliance Program Oversight team (the “Team”) designs and helps implement our company’s global compliance program, including compliance standards (collectively, the “Program”). The Program is designed to mitigate enterprise risk and to empower employees and business partners to act with integrity while fulfilling our company’s mission of helping to improve and save lives. 

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Team, the Director is a trusted partner and driver of the implementation and maintenance of the Program. The Director has extensive experience with pharmaceutical industry compliance programs, is comfortable working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders, and understands the development and implementation of right-sized compliance policies, controls, and processes and the importance of assessing and mitigating risk using automation and data.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES

Scope

  • Policy Governance – Substantive oversight; ongoing assessment to ensure Corporate Policies and ECO Global Standards align with enterprise evolving risks; collaborate with CPOL owners/stakeholders to ensure content and updates are communicated effectively across the enterprise. Evaluate existing policy governance processes and propose solutions for continuous improvement; implement and sustain.

  • Annual Corporate Compliance Goals – Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders to develop and communicate annual corporate compliance goals which reflect an effective enterprise compliance program; partner with ECO Operations to track and communicate corporate compliance goal KPIs; communicate, counsel and train.  

  • Other Global Compliance Policies – Develop, maintain, implement, and ensure appropriate oversight of select global compliance policies applicable to multiple divisions; communicate, counsel and train.

Core Functions 

  • Assist with development and implementation of the strategic vision for optimizing the Program through iterative assessment and a mindset of constant improvement. 

  • Develop an end-to-end process for the ongoing assessment and substantive maintenance of Corporate Policies and Global Standards.

  • Draft in-scope compliance policies and controls and supporting materials, and work with cross-functional teams to implement the policies effectively through socialization and training.  

  • Help identify areas to improve through process automation and simplification and use available data to enhance our ability to identify and mitigate emerging risks.

  • Collaborate with other risk functions (Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption Oversight, ECO Operations, Audit (MCAAS), International Legal & Compliance; Global Investigations) to support and enhance the Program.  

  • Support the development of effective policy governance and communications.

  • Counsel on substantive Program-related issues.

  • Contribute to the development of a strong inclusive team that fosters developmental growth.
