Summary of Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Business Unit Communications to support internal communication strategies and initiatives with a focus on our US Group Health and Hospital and Health Services, business units. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing and implementing comprehensive communication plans that effectively promote brand awareness, engage key stakeholders, and support organizational objectives.
The Director of Business Unit Communications will play a critical role in shaping business narratives and managing change through strategic messaging, executive communications, and content development. This is currently a senior individual contributor role, requiring previous success in supporting senior executives, as well as strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills.
Develop and execute strategic communication plans to effectively convey the organization's mission, vision, and key messages to internal audiences.
Lead the development of compelling content across various channels, including executive messages, blog posts, social media content, newsletters, and website copy, to engage stakeholders and enhance employee engagement.
Oversee employee communications efforts in our business units, including cultivating relationships with executives, writing for leaders, and developing communications plans in a timely and strategic manner.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, public relations, and executive leadership, to ensure alignment of communication efforts with overall business goals and objectives.
Monitor market and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership to inform communication strategies and messaging.
Manage internal aspects of crisis communication efforts, including developing communication protocols, preparing leadership messages, and coordinating responses to build trust with employee teams.
Provide leadership and mentorship to the communications team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Develop and manage communication budgets, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support communication initiatives and objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in business and employee communications, with a focus on strategic communications planning and execution within the healthcare industry.
8 years of experience developing and implementing successful communication strategies and employee campaigns that drive brand awareness and engagement.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for a variety of audiences and channels. Writing samples required at time of interview.
Additional Qualifications:
Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative communication solutions.
Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with senior executives, stakeholders, and external partners.
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Knowledge of emerging trends and best practices in communications, including digital media, social media, and content marketing.
The base salary range for this position is $175,000-$210,000. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for performance bonus, RSU’s, and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements). Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications.
