Functional Job Summary:
A Full Time Employee working with a specific National Account policyholder on behalf of The Standard. This is a dedicated Client Management role, to assist our client’s HR/Benefits department in the administration of group Life, Disability, Voluntary, and/or Absence contracts with The Standard. This employee will work with customer representatives and insured members to help them gain an understanding of both coverage & benefit features of the plans.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as the liaison between the policyholder and The Standard.
Works closely with the employer and their employees to respond to claim and coverage inquires, including verifying appropriate premium administration, addressing customer service issues, claims issues, contract issues and other group life, disability, and absence related inquiries. Manages the escalation of resulting appeals and issues and consulting with the manager and/or NAC.
Independently administers claim processes, handles coordination of death claims, and assists employees in filing for claims.
Provides reports to the policyholder’s benefit and business locations on approved claims, outstanding information requested, and Evidence of Insurability status as needed.
Maintains and protects personal information of the policyholder’s employees.
Develops effective relationships with Human Resources, Benefits and Payroll staff throughout the policyholders’ various locations.
Creates best practices & new process improvements that ensure a positive customer experience for the employer and employees and future retention of the business.
Participates in special projects related to the policyholder’s life, disability, and Leave plans, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Customer service skill set, discretion, and ability to handle the sensitive and delicate personal situations of the employees that involve leave and disability.
Ability to plan and organize own work to meet changing priorities and diverse customer needs. Analyze, interpret, and apply benefit contract provisions to varied, complex situations. Make sound, independent judgments.
Ability to provide timely and thorough responses to inquiries and continuously finds way to improve and promote the service experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Job Specifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business and/or related field preferred.
Required Experience:
2+ plus years of relevant, progressive work experience in the Employee Benefits industry, with an emphasis in customer service, human resources and/or account management. Ability to plan and organize own work to meet changing priorities and diverse customer needs; analyze problems, interpret and apply benefit contract provisions to varied, complex situations; make sound independent judgments; conduct a variety of research using the Internet and/or mainframe computer systems. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, experience in HRIS systems also preferred.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
Salary Range:
$64,250.00 - $94,000.00Positions will be posted for at least 5 days from original posting date.
