What this Job Entails:

The Data Scientist I assists in the design, development and programs methods, processes, and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse “big data” sources to generate actionable insights and solutions. The hire will be responsible for assisting with statistical modeling, and analysis of structured and unstructured datasets to develop metrics, reports, and visualizations of trends and patterns. 

Scope: 

  • Applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues

  • Works on problems of moderate scope

  • Receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources

  • Identifies insights from large data and metadata sources

  • interprets and communicates insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers

  • Create data visualizations 

  • Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms

  • Troubleshoot and test database technical issues with development team

  • Analyze data sets to identify opportunities for increased accuracy and efficiency

  • Perform quality assurance on data to determine potential data gaps

  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business 

  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from four-college or university and 0 to 2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Builds productive internal and external working relationships

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action

  • SQL skills; including creating and modifying macros, as well as creating dashboards using SQL coding

  • Excellent written communication skills 

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Ability to independently analyze large amounts of data; including the ability to identify, analyze, and interpret trends, gaps, patterns in complex data sets

  • Proficient in SAS, Python, R, TensorFlow, Hadoop, and/or Spark

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field

Physical Demand & Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform office-related tasks which may include prolonged sitting or standing

  • Must have the ability to move from place to place within an office environment

  • Must be able to use a computer

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively 

  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Salary Range

$65,007.36 - $102,643.20 USD (Salary)
  • Please note that the salary information provided herein is base pay only (gross); it does not include other forms of compensation which may or may not apply to this specific position, namely, performance-based bonuses, benefits-related payments, or other general incentives - none of which are guaranteed, may be subject to specific eligibility requirements, and are wholly within the discretion of Astreya to remit.
  • Further, the salary information noted above is a range that consists of a minimum and maximum rate of pay for this specific position. Where an applicant or employee is placed on this range will depend and be contingent on objective, documented work-related considerations like education, experience, certifications, licenses, preferred qualifications, among other factors.
