The Technology and Innovation (T&I) Ministry supports Government of Alberta (GoA) departments with information management and technology (IMT) leadership and expertise in IMT services delivery, security, and corporate investment management that enable the GoA to meet business goals and objectives.

The Data and Content Management Division uses a unified approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery across the GoA balanced with individual client needs. This facilitates enhanced data access, collaboration, reduction in data duplication, and innovation to ensure effective and efficient services across the government to provide better services to Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Data Centre of Excellence, you will support a Data Centre of Excellence that delivers services to enable data access, analytics and economy to support data-informed decision making. You will be responsible for providing a range of business analysis services that enable the delivery of data services, data products and analytics services offerings. You will support the program functions for the Data Centre of Excellence which includes but is not limited to developing business cases, leading and enabling program reporting and informing key business operations and process. You will also support the Data Center of Excellence with program management functions.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Gathering, identifying, and analyzing business requirements and facilitating focus groups or requirements identification working sessions;
  • Providing analytical and business support to projects and initiatives in the form of research, statistical and financial analysis, business and IT planning, feasibility studies, requirements analysis, and business case development;
  • Applying sound analysis and best business practices to solve a wide variety of stakeholder problems;
  • Provide business analysis and project management supports to the DCoE initiatives ; and
  • Supporting the creation of procurement artifacts and assisting with contract management.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A related university degree (e.g., Business, Data Analysis), supplemented by at least two (2) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Experience with project/program coordination
  • Experience with developing/supporting data artifacts (e.g., data visualization for data projects)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Assets:

  • Business analysis certification (e.g., IIBA, CBAP, CSPO, PMP, CAPM)
  • Data analytics experience


Equivalencies are:
A related two-year diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience; or a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.

Notes

This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

Testing may be administered as part of our assessment process.

Traveling to the occasional meeting in Edmonton will consist of less than 25% of the work schedule.

While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
