OVERVIEW

The purpose of this role is to proactively secure Altera's customer-facing and internal systems against evolving cyber threats.

The Cyber Security Engineer plays a crucial role in securing Altera's systems, both customer-facing and internal, by bridging engineering and incident response capabilities. This role involves a blend of proactive security measures and reactive incident handling, working within a dynamic cloud-based (Azure) environment. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, inquisitive individual who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced setting and is eager to expand their skillset. This position reports to the Manager of Security Engineering and Incident Response.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with senior team members to review and analyze security incidents escalated from the Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Proactively hunt for threats within the environment, identifying and investigating suspicious activity.
  • Analyze and respond to security alerts, determining their validity and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Work to reduce noise and improve the efficiency of alerts received by the SOC team.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including containing breaches and protecting internal systems.
  • Contribute to the security of Altera's cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure).
  • Engage in continuous learning and cross-training to develop expertise in both security engineering and incident response.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new security tools and technologies.
  • Participate in discussions and evaluations of emerging technologies, such as AI, considering their security implications and alignment with company policies.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into all aspects of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced certifications such as CISSP, CISA, or CESSLP, MS-500, AZ-500 strongly preferred

Work Experience

2-4 years’ experience in the following:
