Business Unit Overview

Our Agency distribution system is the cornerstone of New York Life, where dedicated individuals like you connect with clients and build lifelong relationships. As part of our team, you'll equip agents with the tools and training they need to thrive. Your work helps foster financial security for countless individuals, shaping their futures and contributing to the growth of the business.

Role Overview:
The Advanced Planning Group supports all agents of New York Life. The ideal candidate will have, at a minimum, five to ten years of experience in the areas of estate planning, business planning, charitable planning, asset protection planning, and income tax planning. While not required, a working knowledge of life insurance products would be an asset.

What You’ll Do:

  • Agent Support – Collaborate closely with agents, general office management, and consultants to provide personalized case consultations and case design services. Assist agents in identifying estate, charitable, business, transnational, and retirement planning strategies that align with clients' goals while seamlessly integrating product solutions.
  • Estate and Business Planning Case Design – Create customized and sales focused estate and business planning cases that specifically address a client’s planning needs. Assist and collaborate with other members of the Case Development Team as they develop estate and business planning cases to ensure that all team members are providing the highest level of technical support.

  • Presentations – Present on a variety of advanced planning concepts on national and regional webinars as well as for agent study groups. Serve as subject matter expert to address technical questions coming in through the chat webinar function. Create new presentations on advanced planning concepts for agent training and seminars for our field consultants and agents to use with clients.

  • Content Development - create new content for the advanced planning group library including pieces for agent use only as well as concept pieces designed for client use. Collaborate with your peers on the case design team to develop new content for our customized planning presentation templates.

Take a leadership role in implementing new initiatives (opportunities resulting from changing laws, integration of new company products, content development around core offerings, etc.); and ability to work collaboratively across the organization.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience working in the advanced market. Possess a detailed understanding of estate and gift transfer tax planning, business planning, qualified and nonqualified retirement planning, charitable planning, and income tax planning.
  • Juris Doctor required.
  • Experience presenting complicated advanced planning techniques to other advisors and to clients and should have experience engaging parties to implement suggested strategies.
  • Detailed knowledge of life insurance products, life insurance taxation, life insurance funding (e.g., split dollar, premium financing) and how to utilize life insurance for a high-net-worth individual’s business and estate planning needs.
  • Experience integrating financial planning concepts and estate and business planning strategies to develop a comprehensive plan for high-net-worth clients and business owners.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no technical guidance from management or other members of the Case Development team.
