The Consultant is primarily responsible for supporting various consulting client projects. This leadership role will work very closely with the Senior Consultants and other team members to ensure high quality delivery of services to clients. While projects will vary from client to client, they typically involve reviewing a system or process in order to identify deficiencies and propose improvements. At times projects may also involve assisting with or augmenting a client’s ability to execute an existing business process on a temporary basis. As a member of the consulting team, this position will ensure TAI has a firm grasp of a client’s business requirements and delivers services in a timely and controlled manner. While this role will be primarily focused on external consulting engagements, this role also supports internal projects to achieve better operational efficiency where possible without sacrificing quality.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan, organize, and execute assigned business projects on behalf of clients and according to client’s requirements and business best practices
Identify and meet with key stakeholders and SMEs when needed to perform initial and ongoing assessments to establish project risks, timelines, and deliverables
Collect information about the client’s business through a variety of methods (shadowing, interviews, surveys, reading reports etc.)
Understands Project Management principles
Create and develop successful client relationships
Ability to clearly articulate the benefits and technology related to TAI
Analyze and interpret data to unearth operational inefficiencies and issues and identify the root causes
Review and analyze complex reinsurance arrangements and processes
Review reinsurance systems or databases for data quality and compliance
Gather business requirements, develop test plans, execute testing, and document results
Formulate recommendations and solutions with attention to a client’s needs, capabilities, and limitations
Present findings and suggestions to clients with ample justification and practical advice
Implement solutions on behalf of internal and external client
Provide guidance for any occurring problems and issues
Integrate new clients, blocks of business, and new treaty arrangements into TAI’s administrative platform
Provide training in the use of the TAI system
Conduct tasks and activities within TAI and/or externally to obtain information such as life reinsurance policy data, cession data, managing the implementation of insurance products and/or business process workflows into the TAI Life Reinsurance system. May work with other departments and conduct primary or secondary research to gather client data if information is not readily available
Work with internal and/or external functional areas including, Product Management, Project Management, Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, Claims, and IT simultaneously
Support other TAI business partners as necessary
Collaborate with colleagues and leadership team to ensure delivery of best in class services to TAI’s clients with respect to timeliness, quality, accuracy, and value
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
College or University Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience in contributing to projects including defining business requirements, creating test plans, executing test plans, and implementing solutions
Proven experience with annuity products, with 5+ years of overall business analysis experience
2+ years of experience in a senior life insurance or reinsurance role
Detailed understanding of reinsurance data, processes, and controls including retention management practices, treaty setup, interpretation, and compliance
Experience communicating directly and frequently with clients and stakeholders in a customer service setting
Effective gap-analysis and report writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
Willingness to travel up to 25%
Preferred:
University degree in computer science, actuarial science, finance, mathematics, or accounting
8+ years of insurance or reinsurance experience
FLMI, ACS, or ARA designation from LOMA or working to achieve
Thorough understanding of reinsurance business processes including administration and billing, claims, underwriting, valuation, accounting, etc.
Proficiency in Visio
Proven ability to work with large data sets and complex data flows to recognize systemic risks and issues to the client
Proven understanding of most life insurance products written in the North American market
Experience with project management concepts and practices
Experience with systems conversions
Highly developed client service skills
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Required:
Demonstrates knowledge of processes and issues impacting direct writers, reinsurers, and retrocessionaires.
Demonstrated knowledge of all procedures within the immediate team and a working understanding of other functional areas. An understanding of how decisions impact other areas of an organizations
Proven understanding of reinsurance administration and North American products necessary for the management of reinsurance premiums, claims, other administrative functions, and preparation of trending reports and analysis
Leads work efforts or small projects guiding other associates and mentoring more junior and new members of the team
With minimal direction, utilizes data and information to resolve items, many of which may have not previously been encountered
Ability to independently manage competing deadlines and multiple client priorities while ensuring quality work is delivered in accordance with established service level agreements and timelines
Excellent communication skills through written reports, informal meetings, and formal presentations. Skilled in breaking down complex issues into effective easily understood explanations
Client-driven. Strong customer-service skills with the ability to advocate for the client as a trusted advisor while balancing the needs of the company
Ability to pick things up quickly while listening to client needs
Ability to work effectively and build relationships with all levels of personnel, customers, suppliers, consultants - both internally and externally

Compensation Range:
$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
