Consultant, Retail Operations Technology

Orium is seeking a Consultant, Retail Operations Technology with deep expertise in retail technology and operations to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to Orium’s expertise in retail technology and operations by working closely with enterprise clients to define and implement innovative solutions, including OMS, POS, and PIM platforms. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will align technology strategies with business objectives, facilitate collaborative workshops, and ensure seamless project delivery. Responsibilities
Project and Client Responsibilities:
- Act as a functional specialist and subject matter expert (SME) on retail operations projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards and platform best practices.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, building trust and facilitating discussions to deeply understand their business needs.
- Lead in-depth discovery sessions to define project scope, identify business requirements, and proactively address platform limitations.
- Collaborate with clients, including executives, to define the future state of their operations and align on implementation project scope.
- Develop key client-facing deliverables such as functional requirements documents and implementation plans and backlogs.
- Facilitate client workshops and on-sites to educate, plan roadmaps, define project KPIs, and align on project requirements.
- Advocate for change management from the outset of projects, ensuring client readiness is integrated into project planning and execution.
- During implementation, lead executive stakeholder meetings, support internal risk management discussions, and support in the solutioning of required architectural design changes.
Sales Support and Thought Leadership:
- Provide SME support for OMS, PIM, and POS sales opportunities, contributing to proposals and presentations.
- Research and refine methodologies for retail operations technologies, staying current through certifications in key platforms.
- Collaborate with key industry partners (e.g., Fluent, Akeneo, OneStock, NewStore) to create impactful joint marketing initiatives, such as thought leadership articles, events, and webinars, showcasing the value of our partnerships.
Skills and Qualifications
- Deep expertise in the retail industry with a thorough understanding of retail operations, technology, and best practices, including hands-on experience with OMS implementations.
- Proven ability to speak the language of retailers, with a strong retail background.
- Expertise in consulting and discovery. Skilled in leading discovery phases, asking strategic questions, and helping clients navigate project scope, budget, and timelines effectively.
- Several years of experience in product and/or project management, ideally within a consulting or professional services environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage senior-level client relationships and navigate challenging conversations around project decisions and priorities.
- Bonus: Experience with POS implementations, PIM platforms, product data modeling, or exposure to technologies such as Fluent Commerce, Akeneo, OneStock, or NewStore.

- The Canada Base Salary Range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000 Orium lists this range in good faith, reflecting the expected base salary for this role in the specified locations as of this posting. The pay offered will depend on several relevant factors, such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, and business needs. Please note, this range does not include any benefits that may be included as part of the total compensation package.
