Leidos has an opportunity within the newly created Digital Modernization Practice Area, leading Cloud Engineering for the Repeatable Offerings (RO) organization. The RO organization is the delivery arm of the Digital Modernization sector’s Repeatable Offerings, delivering differentiated capabilities and managed services across the sector and the larger Leidos corporation. We’re seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Cloud Engineering, a position that will lead a team of cloud engineers and developers delivering mission critical solutions for key federal customers.

This opportunity supports enterprise IT transformation efforts, including cloud adoption and modernization strategies. The role is delivery-focused, and provides engineering management and technical leadership for transitioning existing IT architectures to cloud-centric solutions with a focus on Azure, AWS, and hybrid-cloud environments. The position requires the ability to strategically lead cloud adoption, define necessary skills, support organizational changes, establish engineering processes, and drive innovative IT service management (ITSM) solutions.

The Cloud Engineering Senior Manager will collaborate with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Solution Architects, Service Delivery Managers, Security teams, and other stakeholders to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient cloud operations. This role will also play a critical part in aligning business priorities with cutting-edge technologies, including AI/ML, cybersecurity, data analytics, automation, and digital transformation strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of cloud engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and execute cloud transformation strategies, ensuring efficient and cost-effective cloud service operations.
  • Oversee the migration of enterprise IT systems to cloud-based architectures, ensuring minimal disruption and alignment with best practices.
  • Define required skillsets for cloud transformation, guide skill development within the team, and manage organizational changes.
  • Collaborate with senior executives and stakeholders to align cloud solutions with business goals, security requirements, and ITSM strategies.
  • Implement and enforce cloud security policies to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
  • Work with software development and DevOps teams to integrate CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions.
  • Continuously analyze emerging cloud technologies and make recommendations for modernization efforts.
  • Lead financial trade-off decisions for cloud investments, ensuring cost-optimized cloud resource utilization.
  • Provide technical guidance for cloud-native application development and deployment strategies.
  • Oversee subcontractor and vendor relationships, ensuring optimal cloud service performance.
  • Monitor cloud operations, identify risks, and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Support capture and proposal teams in evaluating and incorporating cloud technologies into future opportunities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience leading teams in cloud engineering, infrastructure management, or DevOps.
  • Strong technical leadership experience in Azure, AWS, or hybrid cloud environments, with hands-on expertise in cloud-native architectures.
  • Proven experience in migrating enterprise IT environments to the cloud, including governance, security, and compliance.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security, identity and access management (IAM), and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Experience working in DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile environments, utilizing automation frameworks, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML, APIs, data analytics, and cybersecurity best practices in cloud environments.
  • Strong experience in financial trade-off analysis, balancing cost, security, and performance in cloud implementations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills to drive cloud strategy and execution.
  • Strong leadership and people management abilities with experience mentoring and transforming engineering teams.
  • Effective stakeholder communication and engagement skills, including the ability to present cloud strategies to senior leadership.
  • Must have FinOPS experience.
  • Must have a US Citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a customer specific Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain multiple clearances up to a DoD Secret clearance as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Architect.
  • Experience with experience in Morpheus, Wiz, Dynatrace/ScienceLogic
  • Experience with large-scale IT infrastructure programs, including government or defense environments.
  • Multiple years of Cloud/Azure engineering experience with hands-on migration and implementation expertise.
  • Experience building and transforming teams to support cloud solutions.
  • Strong understanding of IT project management, Agile methodologies, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Security+ (IAT Level II+) or equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience working with classified or highly regulated environments.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $126,100.00 - $227,950.00
