Cloud Engineer

The National Security Sector Software Center (SWC) team at Leidos currently has an opening for a Cloud Engineer to work with our Reston based team. This position is eligible for full-time telework, however, proximity to the National Capital Region is preferred, to meet occasionally with customers on-site.
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for leveraging open-source and in-house tools to manage private and public cloud infrastructure via code, designing reusable infrastructure components for scalable, highly-available, secure architectures for cloud-based applications. The Cloud Engineer will provide input and expertise to senior engineers to maintain alignments with best practices and recommending system improvements while overseeing the automated deployment, roll-back, and monitoring of applications into software development, test, and production environment. This individual is expected to be a thought leader with respect to cloud trends and technologies and mentor fellow cloud engineers.
This position will assist in building cutting edge solutions to solve complex problems with the right technologies, working through an agile development and release process to support critical customer mission goals. They will also support research, engineering, and development of innovative solutions to support operational missions. The NSS SWC works on a variety of projects including engineering robust infrastructure, end-point capabilities, and cloud implementations. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work independently and as part of a team.
Primary Responsibilities
•Develop, test, and maintain continuous integration / continuous deployment pipelines using DevOps tools such as Ansible, Docker, and Jenkins to ensure automated, repeatable deployment to multiple customer environments
•Provide guidance and identify innovation to enable the acceleration of delivery through automation, collaboration, fast feedback, and iterative improvement.
•Perform software analysis, design, development and test of specific requirements related to Windows, Linux, and serverless systems.
•Determine system and software specifications and architecture to meet customer requirements.
•Implement patterns and templates for cloud architectures adhering to best practices
•Apply understanding of technical issues surrounding the designing, building, and testing of software development kits.
•Apply research skills to identify various methods and solutions to complex software challenges.
Basic Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years experience in Computer Science or similar field.
•4 to 8 years of experience performing Cloud activities in a professional capacity.
•Experience managing production workloads.
•Experience working with Agile software development teams and implementing continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
•Experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols/functions (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS)
