Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Cloud Database Administrator for FRBNY Cloud Application migration team. This qualified individual will migrate Oracle databases on premise to the AWS cloud. Peraton serves as a valued partner to essential government agencies across the intelligence, space, cyber, defense, civilian, health, and state and local markets. Every day, our employees do the can’t be done, solving the most daunting challenges facing our customers. This is a remote position.
What you will do:
- Migrate databases from on Premise Oracle to RDS at AWS.
- Ensure integrity of the data migrations.Perform a detailed analysis of the current Oracle 12 database and document existing schema, data types, stored procedures, triggers, and other objects.
- Identify the data to be migrated, including tables, indexes, views, and relationships.
- Gather performance, security, and compliance requirements for the new Postgres SQL 15 database.
- Define the migration and develop a migration plan.
- Review existing data migration work and reuse work as suitable
- Script Review and Development: such as:
- Review scripts developed to convert Oracle schemas to Postgres-compatible schemas, ensuring data types and constraints are appropriately mapped.
- Review scripts for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data from Oracle to Postgres, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Review scripts to convert Oracle stored procedures, functions, and triggers to Postgres equivalents and handle any Oracle-specific SQL syntax and features.
- Review scripts to recreate indexes and constraints in Postgres and optimize indexes for performance.
- Testing and Validation:
- Test migration scripts in a development environment to ensure they work as expected, validating schema conversion and data migration accuracy.
- Conduct functional testing to ensure the application works correctly with the new Postgres database and test all critical application functions.
- Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases in general.
- Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
- Maintains security and integrity controls.
- May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
- Assists Database Designers or Information System Analysts in the development and creation of SQL and web-based databases and database systems.
- Reviews technical designs, reports, documentation, and other materials
