The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Clinical Science Liaison. As the Clinical Science Liaison in the US Marketing Organization for Triage POC, this role involves promoting and supporting strategic initiatives in alignment with the Sales Organization. Key responsibilities include the promotion of strategic assays (Triage) which focus on disease states such as cardiometabolic conditions, as well as the laboratory and point-of-care (POC) environment. This position is responsible for engaging with and leading scientific exchanges with external stakeholders and supporting scientific selling through validated proof sources. Additionally, the role entails working collaboratively across the organization, including with Clinical Scientific and Medical Affairs, Hotline and Technical Support, Research & Development, Learning & Development, and the Global Marketing and Product teams to facilitate idea exchange and provide valuable field-based customer feedback

This is a remote based position in the US, reporting to the Cardiometabolic Marketing Director.

The Responsibilities

  • Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource for external disease experts and as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders.

  • Serve as the organizational lead in North America to develop Clinical Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) to support the clinical nature of NA Marketing's KOL programs.

  • Support the laboratory and physician community with up-to-date clinical information and guidelines, robust disease expertise, and product information.

  • Serve as an expert in the clinical application of an array of assays to support communications to the field and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to marshal the correct support and subject matter experts to resolve customer concerns/issues.

  • Translate information from peer-reviewed journals to a variety of clinical specialties.

  • Handle objections using data from guidelines, peer-reviewed publications, and internal studies in “on-label” discussions.

  • Train internal stakeholders on key scientific and medical topics in relevant diagnostic areas

  • Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders while maintaining full compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.

  • Communicate clinical insights on new data to the company Clinical Scientific and Medical Affairs and to inform medical strategy for the diagnostic areas.

  • Develop an understanding of the regional landscape including specialties involved in care of patients and the diagnostic assays they incorporate for patient care.

  • Bring insights back from the laboratory and clinical environments to influence commercial strategy.

  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Work closely with “off-label” internal peers to coordinate efforts for established and prospective customers to consistently improve assay performance.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned

The Individual

Required:

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree required. Graduate degree is a plus, but not required.

  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of technical, IVD Diagnostic or transfusion medicine experience in a commercial Organization.

  • Proven experience developing technical content to support solutions.

  • Proven experience in working with cross functional teams with the ability to manage projects remotely, to influence and take initiative.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, presentation skills, scientific analytic acumen, and organizational abilities.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • The ability to work in a rapidly changing environment and to meet deadlines.

  • Proven ability to engage and build relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and other clinical stakeholders.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to translate complex scientific data to non-expert audiences.

  • Ability to travel extensively (up to 40%) for field-based work and conferences.

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship. 

Preferred:

  • RN, MBA and/or PhD

  • Customers, conference partners, key customers, industry consultants, key trade partners & suppliers, other trade associations.

The Work Environment

Typical work week and hours in a home office-based environment. Must have the discipline, organization skills and self-motivation to work autonomously in a home office environment. Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.  Occasionally required to bend, twist, and reach. Must be physically able to travel up to 40%. Travel includes airplane, train, automobile, and overnights. On a typical work day, 80% of time meeting with people in field or classroom, 20% of the time on computer, doing paperwork, or on the phone. Must be able to lift-up to 25 pounds.   Up to 40% domestic and international (Canada) as needed travel.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $186,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
