Compensation:  $98,000 to $113,000 per year. You are eligible for a Short-Term Incentive with the target at 7.5% of your annual earnings; terms and conditions apply.

Clinical Research Specialist II – Remote

As stewards of a vast data- and knowledge-base, Ambry believes in leading and participating in research projects with a goal of improving the field of genetics and the lives of the patients we serve. The successful Clinical Research Specialist’s main role in fulfilling this goal is to conduct and facilitate research projects that are both self-initiated and driven as well to support collaborations in partnership with members of other Ambry scientific departments and with external collaborators who use Ambry data and expertise.

The Clinical Research Specialist is responsible for supporting Ambry’s strategic research roadmap. The Clinical Research Specialist is expected to ideate and execute high-impact projects of their own as well as in partnership with scientists in across Ambry’s clinical teams and researchers outside of Ambry to build-on and support Ambry’s oncology and product research portfolios. The Clinical Research Specialist will also work closely and cross-functionally with other members of the Clinical Research team, the Clinical Strategy Managers and the Field Teams to identify, vet and prioritize research projects. By using their scientific and research expertise and knowledge of Ambry data they will influence the study design, determine the feasibility and resource requirements, and gauge the value, quality, and appetite for proposed research projects. They will foster relationships with our internal and external collaborators in the oncology space, ensure the responsible use and interpretation of data, and engender accountability for project timelines. The Clinical Research Specialist is responsible for the progress and quality of the research projects in their oncology-focused research portfolio.

Essential Functions:

  • Recognize and ideate impactful research projects of moderate-to-high complexity that support our strategic research road map in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders with a focus on oncology
  • Be accountable the progress of projects in their oncology-focused research portfolio including the completion of research milestones according to projected timelines.
    • The number of projects, project complexities and timelines are commensurate with role.
  • Adhere to projected publication deadlines as relates to the strategic research roadmap by following through with deliverables and diplomatically fostering the collaborative process with others.
  • With limited input, prepare and/or review abstracts, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Foster existing relationships with collaborators and key opinion leaders in the field of genetics/genomics
  • Work cross-departmentally to help other clinical teams realize their own research goals
  • Participate in internal and external committees to further Ambry’s position as thought leaders is the field of genetics
  • Prioritize efforts based on urgency
  • With limited input, evaluate research projects for resource needs, appetite and feasibility
  • Support the Clinical Research team with professional development goals
  • Train others in data management, research best practices, and the scientific process
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education
    • PhD in a relevant academic field related to Biology, Public Health, or Genetics with at least two years of direct experience with genetics research or clinical genetic services.
    • MS in a relevant academic field related to Biology, Public Health, or Genetics with at least four years of direct experience with genetics research or clinical genetic services.
  • Skills
    • Strong MS Office Experience, especially Excel, Powerpoint and Word
    • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines based on urgency and need
    • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Excellent scientific writing abilities
    • Excellent science-for-lay-audience communication abilities
    • Excellent (confident and competent) presentation and public speaking skills
    • Proven track record of one-or-more first-author publications
    • Proven track record of two-or-more successful lead-author abstracts
    • Strong understanding of molecular biological pathways as relates to clinical genetic disease
    • Strong experience with the scientific process including hypothesis generation, data analysis, and identification of limitations and caveats

    • Experience with Internal Review Board and Research Operations

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.
