Under limited guidance, lead a defined Commercial Banking business segment, which includes full responsibility for the P&L, RAROC and FTE requirements of the segment. Directly as well as through leading Team Leaders, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, cross-sell partners and support staff, identify and develop new business opportunities, monitor, plan and grow client relationships, and actively participate in the origination and structuring of client transactions. Assist in developing annual strategic operating plans that meet or exceed the Bank's expectations. Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established Associated Banc-Corp credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines. Involvement in industry specific and/or community-based organizations and events, along with Colleague Resource Groups, is also expected.

Job Accountabilities

  • Lead the segment to achieve positive results. Directly and by managing established programs, initiate new business opportunities for the Bank through the development of new business contacts and maintenance and expansion of existing client relationships to ensure sufficient loan, deposit, and commercial product/cross-sell volume.
  • Actively participate in the Bank's Loan Approval Process, recommending approval and appropriate structure of credits. Make appropriate presentations.
  • Directly or indirectly, provide financial advice and counsel to clients and prospective clients regarding trends and conditions of the business environment and general banking trends.
  • Lead the defined Commercial/Corporate/Specialized Banking function, which includes responsibility for the P&L of the segment. Manage the process by which we monitor the financial metrics used to drive production and revenue.
  • Responsible for the overall performance of the business segment to include the constant monitoring of credit quality (risk ratings, annual reviews, past dues, document exceptions, and monitoring requirements). Hold individual Relationship Managers and Portfolio Managers accountable for credit quality and addresses performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Lead colleagues directly or through other leaders, by establishing annual performance goals; allocating resources, assessing performance, and determining and recommending compensation adjustments, and/or promotional opportunities. Conduct routine sales huddles with colleagues to discuss current state-of-the-state and brainstorm on ideas to increase revenue and efficiency; ensure other leaders in the segment are conducting routine sales huddles as appropriate.
  • Participate in community and business functions/groups and Colleague Resource Groups to ensure a positive image for the Bank within the region’s marketplace.
  • Actively participate in a variety of Bank committee meetings and projects related to loan, deposit, cross-sell and administrative matters.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Finance or Accounting Required

Experience:  More than 15 years Commercial/Corporate/Specialized Banking, business development, credit skills, knowledge of non-credit products. Required
4-7 years Prior successful P&L management. Required
4-7 years Prior management. Required
