This role is based in Denver, Colorado only, and is considered fully remote to any NZTE Office.  Who we are:  New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand's international business development agency. We work with some of New Zealand's most forward-thinking companies, helping them grow internationally bigger, better, faster.  We are looking for a Business Growth Advisor to help New Zealand tech businesses enter and expand in the U.S. This role offers exposure to New Zealand’s most innovative tech companies and provides the opportunity to work alongside a diverse range of founders, CXOs and stakeholders.   What you’ll be doing:     - You will support a portfolio of New Zealand tech companies to develop and execute their U.S go-to-market plans and accelerate their international growth.   - You’ll be helping them refine their Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), develop their Product Market Fit (PMF), validate their Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM), and identify the best route to market growth.   - This is a coaching role and requires someone commercially savvy, with a healthy dose of EQ and a proven understanding of the growth phases of tech companies.    - You’ll also be an active participant in, and champion of, the New Zealand tech community in Denver and CO as well as building and maintaining relationships with local ecosystem partners.   - As 1 of 2 people on the ground in Denver, you’ll occasionally roll up your sleeves to help deliver programs for visiting New Zealand government ministers and senior officials.   What you’ll need to be successful:  This role is ideal for a reliable self-starter with experience in an advisory capacity within the tech sector. You should be highly commercial, with a solid understanding of both startup and scale-up environments. As tech is an industry that never stays still, a growth mindset is essential.   The right candidate will also be empathetic, taking the time to listen, understand, and ask insightful questions before recommending a course of action. Strong influencing skills and the ability to work collaboratively are crucial. This role involves working across multiple time zones, so flexibility is also important.  You should be a natural relationship builder, leveraging your networks with ease. A willingness and enthusiasm to “make it happen” are a part of your daily attitude, as is the ability to juggle multiple tasks.   Ideally you also bring:  - Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a commercial role, supporting the growth of a diverse portfolio of companies. - Experience in one or more of these areas: edtech, insurtech, proptech, fintech, SaaS - Proven expertise in go-to-market strategies, marketing, channel partner management, business consulting, or enterprise sales. - Established networks within the tech industry in Denver and across Colorado. - Comfort with ambiguity - Familiarity with or passion for New Zealand is a plus.  Please note, internally this role is known as a Business Development Manager (BDM).   Why you’ll love working here:  This role offers a valuable opportunity to apply your well-honed strategic thinking in an international environment and contribute to the New Zealand and Denver/CO tech community.  NZTE offers a flexible and stimulating environment with a unique opportunity to develop and access world-class business networks and work within a talented, diverse, international organization. Travel is required to visit industry events, customers, and attend team meetings.
