- Estimated annual base pay: $116,800(minimum) - $146,000(midpoint) - $175,200(maximum)

This position is responsible for the creation, oversight and execution of strategic development opportunities related to the North American Power Management market targeting combination of Woodward power management control solutions and new customers and channels to market. Target markets will include but not limited to, backup power, data center, large scale commercial & industrial applications. The Business Development Manager will work closely with the business unit sales and marketing teams to ensure comprehensive growth strategies are established for a region, market or product line to meet Woodward Industrial business unit objectives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Works directly with leaders within and across the product management, sales and marketing functions to understand and keep abreast of business strategies.
- Leads the evaluation of strategic customer structures and organizations to identify and prioritize opportunities to expand sales with new products and solutions; conducts in-depth analysis of key players in the markets, the dynamics of their organizational structure and activities, their value chain, their alignment with our strategic direction and ambitions; explores adjacent markets and assesses the feasibility and profitability of our offerings as solutions.
- Based on an effort required versus business impact assessment, develops and maintains a pipeline of potential target organizations, designs and executes an engagement plan, establishes and nurtures contacts, and organizes visits to deliver the commercial message. This engagement plan should include discussions with or visits to our target all influences in the customer buying and decision-making hierarchy, e.g. EPCs, engineering firms, system integrators and end-users to gain insights into the business drivers of our target customers.
- Facilitates the development of the account by the Sales force. Integrates business functions to create and promote multi-product, bundled offerings. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of how our solutions and the solutions of the other business units can be combined or offered as a system to create more value to the customer.
- Guides sales team on proposal requirements and approach to help them win the deal.
- Contributes to the development of new product strategies, support strategies and roadmaps to meet customer requirements. Provides feedback to Marketing on the strengths and weaknesses of the offering and value chain. Supports and advises in developing sales strategies for new and existing products or services, aligned with product roadmaps.
- Drives business expansion with existing customers and new customers through product/solution offerings. Acts as the voice of the customer and is a key influencer of product and marketing strategic alignment. Partners with sales managers of strategic accounts to help them articulate our offerings to their customers.
What We Are Looking For
- US – bachelor’s degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) Technical or business administration discipline required; US – master’s degree in arts/sciences (MA/MS) Business Administration preferred.
- 5+ years Sales experience in related industry including product/marketing responsibilities required.
- Ability to initiate multi-functional teams across the sub segments to leverage strategies and achieve strategic objectives. Quickly builds connections across the organization; needs to rapidly understand internal sales, marketing and product processes to be successful.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills. Be able to make inroads with non-established customers and decision makers, use social media and network to reach decision makers across the buy/sell hierarchy.
- Ability to effectively interact with different cultures and environments.
- Additional training or equivalent experience in specialized areas such as program management, marketing processes or strategic selling preferred
- Experience required in the North American Power Management Market.
