We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our growing and expanding Construction Division, driving market presence and value within the regional and national builder markets. The construction sector is a relatively new market for Biffa, and we offer a unique and unrivalled proposition that not only supports legislative changes but also helps reduce costs for our clients.

The role comes with an uncapped bonus (£25K OTE) and company car.

Your core responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate and link Biffa’s capabilities to meet the evolving demands of the construction industry.
  • Drive the overall strategy and execution of new volume and revenue growth within the construction sector.
  • Prioritize new business acquisition, with a strong emphasis on developing and nurturing long-term client relationships.
  • Lead high-value tender responses, working with internal stakeholders to deliver seamless and competitive project solutions.
  • Manage the entire sales process, from lead generation and crafting compelling value propositions to presenting, negotiating, and handing over to the Corporate Account Management team.
  • Adopt a self-motivated approach to learning while collaborating effectively with internal stakeholders to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Create and analyse cost models using Excel to support all proposals and ensure commercial viability.

Our essential requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in new business sales within the construction sector, with a proven track record of securing high-value contracts, particularly with national housebuilders.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategies that support the development and growth of the construction sector within a business.
  • Experience selling at boardroom level as well as engaging directly with construction sites and operational teams.
  • Clear evidence of creating compelling value propositions and delivering high-quality tender responses.
  • Proficiency in Excel, with the ability to create and analyse business case P+L models.
