Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

The AVP, Data Quality Specialist will be responsible for the working cross-functionally across stakeholders to analyze, organize and plan work activities in support of addressing and resolving data issues raised by data analysts, data scientists or any user of Synchrony data assets as Synchrony migrates to a public cloud environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform root cause analysis in support of Data Quality issues and data usage impediments that are escalated to the Data Office as part of workload migration to the public cloud and ongoing operations.

  • Monitor and maintain Data Quality and Data Issue Management operating level agreements in support of data quality rule execution and reporting.

  • Partner with Technology and other critical stakeholders to assure that Data Quality issues are properly prioritized, analyzed, and resolved.

  • Assess data management risks and evaluate effectiveness of controls in support of Synchrony's transitions to the public cloud.

  • Effectively communicate the status of data quality issues and data management control execution to key stakeholders

  • Support and mentor teammates in the support, maintenance and development of solutions supporting data and analytic capabilities.

  • Work with data extensively, querying from multiple databases, performing data quality and integrity checks, applying, and validating business rules, developing dashboards, and deploying solutions.

  • Influence and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve the most effective outcomes.

  • Recommend, design, and implement data quality specifications within Synchrony’s approved Data Quality platforms.

  • Participate in the solution design of data quality and data issue management technical and procedural solutions.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of agile release cycles and iterations.

  • Work on a mix of projects and data analysis work.

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, or in lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED and 9+ years of analytics or technology support experience

  • A minimum of 5+ years progressive work experience to include:

  • 5+ years of analytics or technology support
  • 2+ years of experience with Data Management or Data Analytics
  • 2+ years of experience in supporting data issues analysis and resolution and data quality activities

Desired Characteristics:

  • Broad understanding of banking, credit card, payment solutions, collections, marketing, risk and regulatory & compliance.

  • Experience using data governance and data quality tools such as: Collibra, Ab Initio Express>IT; Ab Initio MetaHub.

  • Proficient in writing / understanding SQL.

  • Experience querying/analyzing data in cloud-based environments (e.g, AWS, Redshift)

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills including Power Point, Excel, Access, Visio.

  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations.

  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple deliverables concurrently often within aggressive timeframes; ability to cope under time pressure.

  • Experience in partnering with a diverse team composed of staff and consultants located in multiple locations and time zones.

Grade/Level: 11

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
