Associate Manager, Software Engineering

The Red Hat Software Engineering team is looking for an Associate Manager to join us Hybrid in one of our office locations (Raleigh NC, Durham NC, Boston MA or Lowell MA. In this role, you will manage the Software Engineering team and lead the effort of delivery of product and services with support from your management team. You'll grow, organize, and manage a team of software and quality engineers, while collaborating closely with the engineering manager. You'll also participate in creating team structure, team performance reviews, and coaching and mentoring team members.
You will work with the geographically distributed team delivering the Konflux/RHTAP story on top of OpenShift thru operators and services. In your role, you will gain understanding of Red Hat’s internal continuous integration and continuous delivery processes and toolchain, directly working with technologies such as Kubernetes/OpenShift, Tekton, ArgoCD, Shipwright, and more.
Primary job responsibilities
Make sure your team delivers reproducible and data-driven quality service for products, operators and services running on top of OpenShift as well as associated CLIs
Prepare individual development plans with associates and help them seek guidance and mentors
Develop deep understanding of multiple solutions and complex subsystems within each offering
Prioritize and manage the work by setting a roadmap and goals; ensure delivery against established goals and objectives
Contribute to risk analysis and actively communicate throughout the whole product release cycle
Implement ongoing quality improvement processes working with cross-functional teams
Work cross-functionally within other teams and stakeholders and foster collaborative environment
Manage and grow a cross-geo, motivated, engaged, and effective team; play an active role in hiring activities for on-site and/or remote teams
Own team's yearly staffing planning, financial planning, and team performance reviews
Required skills
Experience leading and/or managing a team of software engineers
Ability to work Hybrid from Boston MA, Lowell MA, Raleigh NC or Durham NC.
Experience analyzing product quality and proposing improvements
Experience with Agile methodologies
Leadership and mentoring skills
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and work under strict deadlines
Ability to develop and motivate team members
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
Nice to have:
Knowledge of the Kubernetes and/or OpenShift Container Platform
Experience with open source projects
Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science/other engineering discipline
Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
