To help fulfill that mission, the User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for an Associate Manager of UX Design to lead our design team for PatternFly.

As an Associate Manager on the UX Design (UXD) team, you will lead a team of UX Designers working on the PatternFly design system. You should be passionate about creating seamless user experiences and have a keen eye for detail. You will be expected to stay up to date with industry trends and best practices, continuously improving the design system to maintain its relevance and effectiveness. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the user experience of our products and contribute to the overall success of our organization.
What you will do:
Manage and support a design team, ensuring high-quality, data-driven, user-focused deliverables that support both user and business goals.
Lead the design of PatternFly's visual language including typography, color, iconography and componentry and the tools, resources and documentation to support the system, including PatternFly’s Figma libraries.
Provide design leadership and guidance to Red Hat product teams around using shared patterns, and identify opportunities to create new patterns and components within their workstreams.
Partner with engineering management to help craft the future of PatternFly and the visual experience of Red Hat’s product portfolio.
Navigate complex organizational dynamics to break down silos, facilitate cross-team collaboration, and drive alignment.
Contribute to the development of design methodologies, tools, and processes.
Foster a user-centered culture by advocating for data-driven decision-making and aligning priorities with UX goals.
Support and coach team members in their professional growth by providing continuous feedback, identifying development opportunities, and encouraging continuous learning.
Collaborate with other UXD Managers to advance the UX practice, nurture team dynamics and culture, and support team well-being.
Establish and nurture partnerships with teams outside of UXD, leveraging cross-functional expertise to enhance design impact.
Collaborating with UX Research and UX Operations teams to provide the necessary resources for your team and objectives.
Be an active UXD leadership presence in the Red Hat Raleigh office, with 12 days a month in office.
What you will bring:
5+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Experience managing designers of different disciplines, including motion design, visual & interaction design, and content design.
Proven leadership experience managing and supporting product UX design teams in complex, technical domains.
Ability to adjust leadership style to influence, encourage, and challenge others in a variety of situations.
Experience with design of enterprise and/or complex B2B software.
Strong knowledge of multiple UX methodologies and concepts, with deep knowledge on at least 2, such as Information Architecture (IA), Interaction Design, Visual design, Service Design, and/or User Research Methodologies.
The following will be considered a plus:
Experience with open source projects.
Track record of managing and maintaining a design system and processes in a software development environment.
Experience working with front-end specialists to deliver complex, performant, and user-centric web interfaces that function seamlessly across different platforms and devices.
Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices.

The salary range for this position is $131,420.00 - $216,870.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
