Job Summary:

The OpenShift Compliant and Secure Engineering team is looking for an Associate Engineering Manager  to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will manage a team of highly technical associates who are responsible for developing products and internal tools to keep OpenShift secure and compliant with industry standards. You'll work with your peers around the world to guide initiatives and continually develop technical team members. We will need you to have experience managing teams in a technological, fast-paced environment, combined with a passion for improving the quality and security of OpenShift and other Red Hat products.

What you will do:

  • Manage a team of development and quality engineers delivering compliance scanning and remediation technologies for OpenShift and OpenShift-based products

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of technical teams, consisting of junior to senior technical engineers

  • Play an active role in Red Hat’s secure product development pipelines and ensuring OpenShift meets regulatory requirements

  • Create and guide new feature development for Compliance Operators running on OpenShift 

  • Develop and guide the development of internal tooling and automation to ensure world-class OpenShift security and compliance using SRE principles

  • Work with our support organization who manage customer escalations with highly technical support requests from enterprise customers

  • Collaborate closely with Red Hat Product Security to ensure vulnerability detection and remediation is happening efficiently and within SLAs

  • Promote and guide continuous professional and personal development of team members

  • Provide leadership in problem solving, including proposing and discussing fixes, advising and educating customers

  • Receive assignments in the form of objectives and define how to use resources to meet schedules and goals

  • Maintain knowledge of current technologies and business trends to provide appropriate evaluation of each customer issue

What you will bring:

  • Previous experience as a technical people manager, in a technology-oriented company or department

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven ability to learn and apply new skills and processes quickly, and coach and teach others

  • Ability to identify potential, develop people, and motivate and build a team

  • Solid leadership and coaching skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent working experience

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience working in a Linux environment, GitHub with at least one language like Golang, Python or C/C++

  • Experience working with vulnerability detection and remediation tools

  • Knowledge of industry benchmarks such as CIS, NIST SP-800-53, PCI, and others

  • Appreciation and passion for open source software

  • Experience with a container ecosystem like Docker, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift

  • Ability to examine various technological areas deeply and deliver solutions

  • Debugging skills

The salary range for this position is $125,760.00 - $207,530.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
