Overview of Position

The Associate Investment Operations Analyst serves as a valued member of the Investment Analytics team in the Office of the Chief Investment Officer (OCIO). The Office of the Chief Investment Officer (the “OCIO”) is responsible for oversight and management of Assurant’s $9 billion plus global fixed income investment portfolio including investment strategy, actuarial and risk, portfolio and risk analytics, compliance, reporting, and administration and operations.

The Associate Investment Operations Analyst will interact with our various investment management, regulatory, investment accounting and banking partners. This role requires a proven ability to handle various initiatives while maintaining accuracy and consistent attention to detail. 

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job? 

  • Assist with review and on-going processing of the company’s portfolio investment valuation process ensuring that all of the company’s investments are consistently and accurately valued based on GAAP and internal guidance. 

  • Assist in annual accreditation of pricing vendors including deep dive analysis of pricing source data, third-party vendor review by auditors and compliance with internal guidelines.

  • Review, monitor and maintain the various Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization (NRSRO) ratings for the various investments in the company’s portfolio.

  • Proactively monitor our statutory deposit holdings. Working with 3rd party managers to provide/update the holdings as needed and complete the required bank and regulatory paperwork for the deposits as needed.

  • Assist with on-boarding new alternative investments. Working with investment partners and internal legal team to complete Know Your Customer, Anti-Money Laundering, and Subscription documentation.

  • Liaison with various custodial and statutory deposit banking partners to maintain communication channels and to streamline processes.

  • Assist with periodic examinations by our internal audit teams as well as insurance regulatory agencies.

  • Review and maintain internal statutory and investment manager compliance guidelines and reporting.

  • Respond proactively to changes in the operating environment by breaking down processes/functions and making proposals based upon business needs and changes in technology which will improve the quality of information and/or streamline a process.

  • Additional duties as assigned

What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor's degree in business related major, Finance, IT or Accounting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and MS Word.

  • Must live in NYC Metro area to be available for team meetings.

Travel

  • Limited travel expected outside of occasional meetings and work projects in NYC.
