Job Description
Our Sourcing team partners with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines, and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories.
The position of Associate Director of R&D Sourcing and Procurement, Global Clinical Supply, and Third-Party Labs is responsible for all Sourcing and Procurement activities in support of the Global Clinical Supply organization of our company Research Laboratories. In addition, this role will manage Sourcing and Procurement activities for the third-party analytical labs that are utilized by the Research and Manufacturing organizations.
The Associate Director will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams through the Sourcing Management Process and developing team member’s capabilities to do the same. The Associate Director will manage categories with a high degree of complexity, executing challenging supplier negotiations, and delivering a high service level to the business. As a part of this role, the Associate Director will work with category leads to negotiate key contracts with suppliers that have business across multiple functional areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Category Scope – Direct responsibility managing the category portfolio and associated supplier relationships
Sourcing Management – To adopt, lead, and execute the Sourcing Management Process by leading cross-functional teams
Strategy Creation – Establish a cross-functional team that will create breakthrough strategies that deliver significant business benefit to our company over time
Sourcing – Oversee and lead the sourcing activity including RFX, RFP, negotiations, and contracting with targeted suppliers
Strategy Implementation – Oversee and manage all aspects of implementation including stakeholder engagement, entry and exit of suppliers, and alignment with other categories
Stakeholder Management – Work in a way that positively engages the support of stakeholders using problem solving and proactive communication skills. Execute an Entity Management Program that helps build a sourcing project pipeline and ensures alignment with key stakeholders
Market Understanding/Business Requirements – Develop a keen insight and understanding of business requirements and market trends on a 1-3-5 year horizon
Project and Change Management – The complexity of categories and projects require high quality project and program management skills
People Management – Responsibility for developing and managing a staff of analysts and sourcing managers
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, IT management for related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
Minimum 5 years of strategic sourcing or related experience in a business role.
Demonstrated expertise in executing the Sourcing Management Process across highly complex projects. Ability to complete projects on time and within budget.
Excellent project management, analytical, communication, relationship, and leadership skills.
Must be adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments.
Demonstrated experience in effectively leading diverse, cross-functional teams to achieve stakeholder, department, and company goals.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Extensive experience with establishing and managing internal and external business relationships.
MS and/or MBA desired
Demonstrated negotiation skills.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence.This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, field-based positions; facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$126,500.00 - $199,100.00Available benefits include bonus eligibility, long term incentive if applicable, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. A summary of benefits is listed here.
