Summary:
The Cellular Therapy Associate Director, Trade and Distribution Operations will play a key role in the management of our distribution operations across the BMS cellular therapy portfolio. This individual leads one or more third party logistic (3PL) vendors helping to identify potential issues, continuous process improvements and innovation efforts for CAR T Distribution. The selected candidate will provide input on the CAR T US distribution strategy, trade policy, and be the key point of contact driving day-to day execution of CAR T distribution operations. The individual is expected to work collaboratively with internal and external teams supporting the CAR T Distribution operations. This individual will respond to and resolve escalated customer issues and serve as a resource for PMs and Senior PMs, internal matrix partners, and external vendors. The AD oversees the creation of certified center activations, ordering and invoicing materials and validates that they meet compliance requirements and legal approval process using internal content management platforms. The AD will incorporate a customer-centric approach in their commitment to streamline the purchase ordering process for BMS customers.
This is a remote role with 40-50% travel required.
Responsibilities
Leads operational oversight and program management of complex brands to ensure exceptional customer experience and efficient, effective and compliant programs
Support, coordinate and execute network expansion for US Hematology – Cell Therapy Go to Market Strategies
Oversee development of supporting materials for execution of strategies and initiatives in support of programs (e.g., brochures, training materials, program updates, organization messaging, etc.)
Act as a subject matter expert for distribution operations, master data and quality
Educate matrix partners about BMS programs, policies, procedures, and resources for cellular therapy
Mentor and support Program Managers’ (including Senior and Executive PM) and Tour of Duty associates’ development of knowledge and skills
Collaborate with Cellular Therapy Market Access Manager(CMAM) and PASS leadership on individual case management or program needs
Collaborate with BMS cross-functional team members: Cell Therapy Scheduling Operations, Product Marketing, CTDO Patient Operations to resolve certified center activation, ordering and invoicing issues
Support 340B eligibility, certified center validation and contract summaries
Support DOD/VA eligibility, ship to certified center validation and Big4 CART Bid Awards
Support MSA/SOW contract negotiations and tracking of expiry
Support programs (independently or with a matrix team) by performing industry benchmarking, stakeholder analysis and market research, and patient and provider surveys to ensure BMS is launching and operating successful programs
Initiate and/or manage change through a balance of tactical and strategic planning via continuous improvements and ongoing review and analysis of future business needs
Utilize data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies
In partnership with Director, develop and manage overall program budgets, including invoice reconciliation and workforce planning
Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, entrepreneurial environment, adapting to change as needed

Collaborates with leadership, PASS teammates, and matrix teams to create the program strategy and share opportunities to optimize the approach
Uses subject matter expertise about the ordering journey (e.g., therapeutic area, brand, indication, etc.) to expedite the path to therapy in alignment with the Brand team’s overall strategy
Coaches PMs and Senior PMs about managing relationships, activities, and budgets for agencies and hubs
Leads Site Onboarding Activity
Communication & Education
Develops and coaches PMs and Senior PMs responsible for the legal review process for materials (if applicable)
Supports the creation of action-oriented training materials for large meetings
Presents and discusses program performance in high-stakes communication settings; adjusts based on the profile and needs of the audience
Oversees creation and delivery of engaging, effective training for internal (matrix and field teams) and external stakeholders on a variety of topics (e.g., ordering journey, account set-up, disease state)
Navigates difficult conversations and group dynamics while maintaining credibility and building relationships; escalates when needed
Models excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communications and presentation skills; provides feedback to others
Maintains clear, tailored, consistent, and concise communication across all stakeholders, methods, and platforms
Business and Industry Acumen
Incorporates the voice of the customer and explains customer needs and viewpoints to others
Anticipates marketplace trends that could apply across brands, and proactively seeks and shares trend insights across brands to improve visibility and mitigate issues
Maintains excellent organizational and planning skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy

Validates data and seeks additional insights to make reliable, data-driven decisions
Identifies opportunities for improved data gathering and consistency across programs and brands
Develops data integration and aggregation strategy for existing and new indications
Reviews robust data analytics insights to continuously improve Business Rules and processes
Identifies program trends and shares relevant insights with external vendor partners (as appropriate), and internal leaders and matrix teams
Proactively acts when programs are trending toward or away from Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Collaborates with data analytics team to identify data outputs and build dashboards needed for monitoring program performance, anticipating high demand, and proactively mitigating potential problem areas
Compliance
Stays up to date and compliant with BMS compliance policy guidance, rules of engagement and Business Rules in general, and specific to relevant disease states
Organizational Navigation
Leads matrix teams and vendors to identify ordering issues and ensure consistency with service delivery
Models and fosters matrix team effectiveness by sharing information, knowledge, and experience
Builds and maintains relationships among VAP/PASS teammates and cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Access Marketing, Brand, Trade, etc.) throughout the organization
Identifies and acts on opportunities for improvements in ways of working and team dynamics

Coaches and mentors peers and direct reports to improve their VAP/PASS-related knowledge, skill, and operational efficiency
Sets and shares reasonable expectations when delegating responsibilities

Leads the implementation of and advises others about the VAP/PASS strategic vision

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Health or Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA, MA Public Health, PharmD, etc.) preferred
5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry including 2+ years in patient services required
Project Management Professional (PMP) certified preferred
Relevant experience in claims reimbursement required, including billing and coding; managed care coverage processes and practices; distribution and dispensing of specialty pharmaceuticals; buy and bill; and aspects of patient support and/or hub services
Experience in managing complex projects, programs, and teams required
Direct report management experience required
Experience in healthcare distribution/specialty pharmacy
Experience in process improvement, project management, vendor management.
Experience/familiarity with chargebacks, 340B program, state licensing requirements for drug distribution preferred.
Experience/familiarity with data transfer agreements, file interface agreements, electronic data interchange, SAP
Experience in Market Access, cellular therapies/CAR T/Hematology preferred.
Ability to travel 40-50% of the time
The starting compensation for this job is a range from $170,000 - $195,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.
Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
