Job Summary:

The position is responsible for assisting the statewide Fire Business Program with training, effective interagency policy and resource coordination for incident business management activities and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAG). Assist in monitoring the Fire budget to accomplish Fire and Aviation program objectives within legislative intent and funding allocations. This position will provide assistance in cost apportionment for joint responsibility fires; cost share coordination between the Districts and State Forester's Office; and serve on various state, regional, and national fire business committees.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assists with cost apportionment, cost share, billing, support of FEMA FMAG. Evaluates the effectiveness of fire business management policies, procedures, operations, and activities to determine if they are meeting agency's goals and objectives. Aid in identification of more efficient fire business policies and procedures.
• Provides advice and coordination in the development and implementation of incident business management for the agency. Identifies issues; gathers and analyzes information on an interagency and interstate level to develop policy; provides technical advice related to incident business practices and procedures; takes corrective action and resolves issues affecting incident business operations.
• Represents the agency with local, state, and federal agencies and organizations (SWCG, FEMA, ADEM, etc.) to ensure the state's interests are represented in the development of broader initiatives: evaluates and responds to policies, rules and standards, proposed by the organizations; and to identify necessary changes to the agency's goals, objectives, and policies.
• Assists in the development of and delivers training and technical assistance to agency staff and governmental agencies in fire business management for those engaged in wildland fire and aviation management. Ensures that agency personnel are integrated into the national inter-agency wildfire qualification system.
• Drive on State business.
• Other duties as assigned.

Selective Preference(s):

Two to three years of progressively responsible related experience including experience with Fire Operations, Fire Equipment, Fire Incident business, grant administration, program accounting and budgeting and with ensuring compliance with regulations.

Experience with Incident Management Teams with preference as a Finance Section Chief

Pre-Employment Requirements:

A valid Arizona Driver's License.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

Participation is a mandatory condition of employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria as defined in statute.

Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.

The current contribution rate is 12.29%
