Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing who will develop innovative, end-to-end marketing campaigns, working closely with marketing colleagues, publicists, editors, authors, and agents on the creation and execution of promotions supporting adult Christian books to a wide audience of readers for our imprints including WaterBrook, Multnomah, Image, and Forum.  

As Assistant Director of Marketing, you will report to the Vice President, Director of Marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned book marketer who reads widely, communicates clearly, works independently, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position works across teams to influence imprint-wide campaigns and initiatives, with an eye toward grassroots marketing activations with creative and effective promotional opportunities. You will also be involved in the day-to-day strategy of group’s online marketing communication, including the creation of content and developing a brand voice across platforms.   

 

Our Christian publishing program is devoted to creating books that inspire readers to find rich, spiritual purpose in their daily lives and invite them into a deeper relationship with God. We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic marketer with interest in working with Christian books and authors to join our team. This assistant director will be an active member of the team who creates and executes customized campaigns. PRH Christian publishes a broad range of  Christian focused books in a variety of genres including Christian Living, Christian Fiction, and our 4-color product lines including gift products and journals. 

 

We publish a broad range of Christian authors including John Mark Comer, Mark Batterson, Michael Todd, Jordan Lee Dooley, Jennie Allen, Manny Arango, Ashley Heatherington, Madison Prewett Troutt, Sarita Lyons, Angela Halili and Arielle Reitsma, Rich Villodas, Katie Davis Majors, Stephanie Ike Okafor, and Joni Eareckson Tada. 

 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Create and lead innovative title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer trends to drive awareness, engagement, and sales  
  • Manage title-marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, analytics, creative partnerships, and budgets to help maximize ROI on numerous titles per year 
  • Liaise with Publicity, Editorial, and Audience Development, and their larger teams to implement cohesive campaigns and promotions, while communicating with sales, authors, agents, and other stakeholders as needed 
  • Create launch plans and communicate them to authors and agents  
  • Attends Publishing Meetings and gives pertinent feedback on potential projects and book proposals presented by the editors 
  • Presents during key publishing group meetings, including acquisition meetings for potential authors  
  • Develop and maintain strong author and agent connections

  • 7-10 years of experience in book marketing with demonstrated presentation skills and proven ability to create strong integrated campaigns, as well as programmatic, social, and search advertising strategies 
  • 5 years of experience managing influencer campaigns, content development, and using data to optimize strategies and messaging 
  • Management experience is a plus 
  • Demonstrates fruitful relationships with authors and agents  
  • Ability to set and meet goals under an established timeline and budget 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated experience working with editorial, publicity, and sales, as well as working with authors and agents 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and other key stakeholders, both in writing and verbally 
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and thrive in a deadline driven, fast-paced working environment 
  • Ability to work cross-functionally across the division and within the company 
  • Results-oriented, motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently 
  • Interested in developing marketing partnerships, out-of-the-box campaigns, and direct-to-reader outreach 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required 
  • Proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite programs and online marketing tools like Canva 

 

The PRH Christian Publishing Group’s office is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is open to remote candidates who reside in the United States. 

 

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $91,000, commensurate with experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
