Fully remote are roles that can be performed remotely, require employees to live in approved states and will have purpose-driven in-person interactions on occasion.

Job Summary

Responsible for PSEG’s effective Critical Incident Response and Physical Asset Protection Program. In this role, the Asset Protection Specialist (APS) will be responsible for creating and maintaining facility Critical Incident Response Plans (CIRP), as well as Enterprise Life Safety plans. In addition, coordinate and facilitate Physical Security Risk Assessments using a systematic approach to identifying threats and vulnerabilities to PSEG facilities, which help drive the appropriate controls (preventive/preemptive measures) to manage risks.

  • Deploy to security incidents which require investigation, evaluation, and/or follow-up
  • Develop, update, train and exercise Critical Incident Response plans, as well as conduct regular meetings and presentations with facility property managers to facilitate Active Shooter and other drills and exercises
  • Conduct and/or facilitate Physical Security Risk Assessments for all regulated/non-regulated facilities to ensure vulnerabilities are mitigated and risks are understood and considered within contingency plans  
  • Liaison with Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement in response to threats, criminal activity, and the preparedness thereof
  • Assist in the auditing and penetration testing of physical security systems  
  • Continuous Learning and certification in security and crisis management 

Job Responsibilities

Responsible of the Company’s Critical Incident Response Plans

  • Develop and update each facility Critical Incident Response plan
  • Support in the development and execution of planned exercises and drills
  • Audit facility plans, identify areas for improvement and assist in the amending of those plans
  • Develop and update Active Shooter plans for select facilities
  • Develop and conduct Active Shooter drills in coordination of facility, property managers

Responsible for the Company’s Physical Asset Protection Program

  • Monitor, track, and evaluate PSEG security events, national threats, and local crime rates to assess PSEG’s threat picture
  • Conduct Physical Security Risk Assessments using DHS’s standard Risk Model. 
  • Assist in the coordination and planning of physical security mitigation plans developed to detect, assess, delay, and respond to threats

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 or more years of experience, or in lieu of a degree, 15 years related experience
  • Law enforcement or other first responder experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
  • Previous experience writing, reviewing, and executing emergency operations and or life safety plans
  • Previous experience in training, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Broad knowledge of security protocols, best practices, and procedures
  • Excellent presentation, analytical, and communication skills, both written and oral, are required to synthesize key issues, and communicate/persuade key stakeholders towards specific actions and initiatives
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
  • A valid Real ID or an approved forms of alternate documentation (https://www.pseg.com/IDrequirement) is required for this job. Successful candidate must provide appropriate documentation to meet access requirements upon hire

Desired Qualifications

  • Training experience within a utility or regulated industry
  • For internal applicants, broad understanding of PSE&G organizations and their relationship as a whole
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
  • Certified Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)
  • Eligibility to carry firearm via LEOSA
