Job Description:
DTN is seeking a Commercial Lead to drive the Agriculture Intelligence (Ag Intel) product segment, providing cross-functional leadership to optimize revenue and profitability. In this individual contributor role, you will be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies, managing the P&L, and identifying new market opportunities. You will foster strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders, aligning customer needs with product innovation to enhance loyalty and growth. Additionally, you will track KPIs to ensure continuous improvement and stay ahead of industry trends to anticipate risks and opportunities.
What you will be responsible for:
Provide cross-functional leadership – both day-to-day and long-term strategy - within the Agriculture Intelligence product segment to optimize segment revenue and profitability.
Develop and execute comprehensive commercial strategies to achieve market penetration, revenue growth and profitability goals, aligning with company objectives.
Foster strong relationships with key customers, understanding their needs so to develop products and experiences to maintain loyalty and drive repeat business.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) across the business unit to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary adjustments.
Identify new market opportunities, develop growth strategies, and lead initiatives to expand the business.
Stay abreast of industry trends and market dynamics, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
Provide guidance and support to team members across the organization, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
Foster strong relationships with other departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and achieve shared objectives.
Encourage continuous improvement initiatives within the business unit, seeking new technologies and operational efficiencies.
Own the P&L for the Agriculture Intelligence segment, closely monitoring revenue, expenses, and profitability metrics to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.
What you will bring to the role:
- Conversational fluency in how the ag inputs and retail markets work, major product lines, how products are developed and marketed, how those markets are changing, customer needs and drivers of bull and bear markets for the upstream ag industry.
- Experience building a business from 0 to $10M in recurring revenue.
- Agile Athlete: Ability to manage risk, adjust and thrive in an ever-changing landscape.
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop and execute effective commercial plans.
- Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive revenue growth and profitability.
- Proven ability to influence and motivate teams with or without direct reporting structure.
- In-depth knowledge of the Ag data and software space, market trends, and competitive landscape. Knows the user problems or can intuit them quickly – and the relative size of those problems.
- Multi-functional background in some combination of Commercial, Product, Strategy and Partnerships roles.
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to effectively convey complex information and build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Data-driven decision making with the ability to interpret complex information and draw actionable insights.

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $170,000 and $200,000. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
