Overview:
The International Transportation Advisor, specializing in Dangerous Goods, is responsible for leading our company's operations and ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of hazardous materials across international borders.
Responsibilities:
Operational
- Develop and implement strategies for the transportation of Dangerous Goods, ensuring compliance with international regulations and industry standards
- Oversee the coordination of shipments, including documentation, packaging, labeling, and handling of Dangerous Goods
- Stay up-to-date with changes in international regulations related to Dangerous Goods transportation and communicate relevant updates to the team.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Compliance, Legal, and Operations, to ensure alignment and adherence to company policies and procedures
- Manage relationships with shipping carriers, freight forwarders, and other third-party logistics providers to ensure timely and cost-effective transportation solutions
Leadership and Management
- Lead a team of transportation professionals, providing guidance and support in the execution of their daily responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential hazards and ensure the safety of personnel and cargo
- Monitor and analyze transportation performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Provide training and guidance to employees regarding the proper handling and transportation of Dangerous Goods
Qualifications:
EDUCATION
General Education
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Level
EXPERIENCE
General Experience
- Valid certification in Dangerous Goods handling and transportation (e.g., IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Certification).
- Extensive knowledge and experience in international transportation, specifically in the handling and transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Strong understanding of international regulations, such as IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and IMDG Code.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive results.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software.
Managerial Experience
- Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes (13 months to 3 years)
