Advisor, Accounting (P3)

Summary

Reporting to the Senior Managing Director, Financial Controller, the Advisor, Accounting will collaborate with the various units within and outside of the department to promote clarity, risk management, stakeholder management and to foster excellence in financial oversight across the organization. The Advisor, Accounting is responsible for coordinating across different teams to ensure the accomplishment of department objectives through information sharing, technical assistance, project management, updates of financial process for business continuity as well as data analysis.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Capacity Building, information sharing and Stakeholder Management (30%)

  • Support build and maintenance department-wide objectives, planning and monitoring
  • Provide training and technical assistance to country offices, award management and agency functional teams
  • Define and socialize best practices among teams, share efficiencies by leveraging operational and financial knowledge to improve existing processes and support teams in goal achievement
  • Organize, support cross-team meetings, stakeholder engagement sessions, in-office hours and other
  • Acts as a resource for other team members; may lead projects with limited risks and resource requirements

Business Continuity (30%)

  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Prepare, update, develop and publish operating procedures for the different groups within EFRAP, including processes linked to other departments in Finance
  • Support Transformation Projects
  • Assist in the roll out of transformation projects by compiling metrics, analysis of data and other review activities
  • Assist in the coordination of transition activities from project to business as usual

Back up Support

  • Support accounting or processing transactions
  • Serve as back up support on as needed basis

Financial Analysis (20%)

  • Identify and process any necessary adjustment as result of award analysis
  • Perform reconciliations related to balance sheet, revenue or expenditure accounts
  • Coordinate monitoring checklist and any recommended actions.
  • Coordinate the review and submission of supporting documents and analysis for audits, donors and other agencies

Support complex donor requirements, reconciliations, and closeouts (20%)

  • Support team in reviewing complex issues including donor, regulatory or internal reconciliations.
  • Provide project management and support to closeout tasks or cross-departmental/ divisional
  • Lead in improvements to support reconciliation and closeout of tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
