The Accounts Receivable Director provides leadership, strategic direction and oversight of the Firm’s cash applications, Accounts Receivable and Collections groups. The position is responsible for ensuring the most effective and efficient policies, procedures, and systems are in place to facilitate the timely payment processing and overseeing reporting and client requests. This role will collaborate with finance leaders and line of business/ Service Line/Capability/Operational leaders to identify, recommend, develop, and implement changes that benefit the firm’s bottom line, and will drive efforts to increase efficiency and optimization of this critical revenue generating finance function.

Essential Duties

  • Provide oversight for the Receivables, Collections, and Remittance teams within the Firm. This includes executing strategic initiatives, enforcing Accounting Policies and Standard Operating Procedures, and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Firm’s practices, clients, and operations, and lead efforts to drive functional improvements, operational efficiencies, innovation, and continuous enhancement across the Firm’s collections process.
  • Develop and execute effective collections strategies to minimize outstanding balances while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Monitor and report on key metrics related to collections performance, such as Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), reserves, write-offs and aging reports.
  • Partner with legal or external collections agencies as necessary to recover overdue payments.     

Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve collection processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client satisfaction.
  • Work with the larger finance team and IT to identify and implement system improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Drive improved efficiency of the collection and remittance processes and procedures. This is accomplished by working with IT and the Product owner to set the roadmap for system improvements, system selection, and strategic direction. Design, implement, and maintain controls and methodologies to ensure accurate and prompt processes and associated technology/software.

Team Leadership:

  • Provides effective leadership to employees and/or teams through: planning appropriate staffing levels; interviewing, selecting, orienting, and training; communicating performance expectations and providing feedback on performance, recognition, coaching, employee counseling reports and/or discipline including termination; creating career growth opportunities and employee development plans.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the Firm’s finance AR and collection team, champion and ensure a highly team-oriented, client service-focused approach and culture, with the utmost commitment to professional excellence.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on the status of collections, including aging reports, cash flow projections, and trends.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of receivables and collections data to identify patterns and recommend actionable improvements.
  • Present findings and recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience - Required

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $122,800 - $217,300

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
