Accounting Manager, Domestic Auto

Overview of Position
Assurant has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager for our Domestic Auto segment!
As an Accounting Manager you will be responsible for managing a team of accountants who will collectively own the domestic auto results by client. This individual must possess critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and is a trusted individual who can be counted on to provide consistent, high-quality results, and who will function as the point of contact with the business and FP&A for client results.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Lead, manage, and develop team of accountants with a dedicated focus on monthly/quarterly results.
Act as a subject matter expert on individual clients that includes risk structures, remittance types, change in products.
Identify, propose, and support implementation of continuous improvement opportunities with a focus on reducing manual process risk and increasing team capacity.
Evaluates the accounting impact of changes in risk structures, products, enhancements to meet the business demands and leads the cross-functional working group that facilitates the successful implementation and documentation of those accounting changes.
Develops a monthly analytical review process that positions the domestic auto team to proactively identify errors and report material changes in client results.
Partners and collaborates extensively with the business, FP&A, program accounting and actuarial to understand and document client results.
Perform analysis by client on high-risk areas such as DAC, 606 disclosures, fee income.
Develop and maintain reports that provide a comprehensive view of client results for both GAAP and STAT and applicable legal entities.
Understands moderately complex warranty accounting and documents the “why” behind the transactional activities. Develops documentation to provide knowledge transfer to accounting teams of client contracts and key accounting implications, client conversions and/or enhancements.
Performs other related duties as required to promote the overall process improvements, efficiencies, and effectiveness to support our internal and external customers.
Responsibility for the work of others
Total accountants: 10 with 4 onshore and 6 offshore
Responsibility for managing project resources
Financial Responsibility
Support in management of overall Domestic Auto cost center budget.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Education:
College degree in accounting, plus CPA, chartered accountant or equivalent designation required:
CPA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance leadership role
Property and Casualty Insurance experience
Effectively managing teams remotely
Knowledge and Skills:
