Job Summary:
The Accounting Support Specialist role provides business accounting and general bookkeeping support for fast-paced, specialty programs utilizing agency management systems such as IMS and AIM. Primary responsibilities will focus on General Ledger accounting, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and cash account management. This is a support/jr. accountant level role working with a small team and will report directly to the Accounting Manager.
This is a full-time position working from our Atlanta, GA office (perimeter area) on a hybrid schedule, 1-2 days a week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Process incoming payments from retail agents, wholesale brokers, and insureds
- Process premium payments
- Generate producer payable statements and process producer commission payments
- Reconcile accounts receivables and producer payables in the accounting subledger administration system
- Assist in month-end closing processes related to accounts receivable and producer payables
- Manage and execute collections efforts, following up on overdue accounts and working proactively to recover outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes
- Additional projects as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
- Microsoft Office Suite – Proficient
- Microsoft Excel – solid proficiency
- Experience with accounting software
- Proficient in working in web-based applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter, self-motivator, ability to work independently
- Ability to be flexible and switch from one project to another when needed to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- Organizational and time management skills
- Maintain confidentiality
- Problem solving skills
- Confident, team player who can help refine and expand this role over time
Education and/or Experience:
- 4-year (Bachelor’s) Degree in Accounting is preferred; degree in finance and other business disciplines considered
- Company Payables / *Receivables experience required
- 1-3 years of accounting experience is ideal
- Microsoft Excel proficiency required
- Insurance agency experience is a plus. MGA experience highly preferred
- Experience using an Agency Management System (IMS, AIM and ImageRight are preferred)

The base salary range for this position is $52,000 – $65,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
