The role

As a Welcome Partner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Welcome Partner will assist in managing the holistic induction process for all new starters to the Babcock business based at Rosyth. This is a position needed to enable a streamlined approach to inductions, due to the significant levels of resource intake forecasted over the next 12 months. The individual will be one of the first colleagues to welcome a new starter when joining Rosyth and will work closely alongside the Welcome Lead and Resourcing Team.

They have the responsibility to ensure the new starter has the information they require (e.g., site familiarisation, start times, location, security process and training) given the complex nature of our business. There are a significant number of processes, teams and practicalities involved for a new starter and as such, the Welcome team will be the connecting ‘pin’ ensuring all aspects are complete, so an individual can be ready to work. They will ideally hold knowledge of the Marine sector business unit or be able to gain this knowledge quickly and therefore be able to conduct site tours on behalf of the business, to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Working with the Welcome Lead, Ensuring the overall delivery of a Rosyth induction is efficient and effective, meeting the needs of the new starter and our business.
  • Responsible for liaising with relevant parties in advance of ‘day 1’ to ensure new starters will arrive on time and will have everything they need (e.g., People Centre and on-boarding information, Security team and baseline clearance).
  • Responsible for meeting and supporting all new starters on ‘day 1’ albeit in person or those working remotely.
  • Accountable for ensuring the induction process meets expectations in relation to our Company Purpose and Principles.
  • Provide a credible Rosyth site tour to enable new starters to have an initial introduction to the size and scale of our business. Site tours may in addition be conducted for alternative internal/ external stakeholders.
  • Provide a professional and confident induction with relevant guidance and company information such as business steam introductions, site practicalities and useful things to know. This will likely be in the format of a presentation and/or video format.
  • Conduct ‘follow ups’ with new starters between 1-2 months after starting with the company, to ensure the induction had provided everything they needed. Taking feedback and making any adjustments required.

This role is part time, 30 hours per week and is on a fixed term basis. Typical working days will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and half day on a Friday. Typical starting time will be 06:30 am with flexibility on finish times.

  • Understanding of a professional business induction experience e.g., HR/ recruitment experience
  • Personable with the ability to communicate at all levels and manage key stakeholders involved in the process (such as line managers/ HR / Resourcing)
