Web Designer

Our organization is seeking an experienced web designer to join our team. As a web designer, you will be responsible for designing and improving the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) of our digital products and services. You will develop engaging and attractive designs that complement efficient user journeys and prioritize lead generation and consumer education. This will include collaborating with cross-functional teams such as developers, product managers, and marketers to create intuitive, visually appealing digital experiences that meet both user and business requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that our digital products and services are accessible to users with disabilities and meet applicable accessibility standards.

• Execute all visual design stages from concept to hand-off to IT for development.
• Conceptualize original website design ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex roadblocks.
• Design intuitive and visually appealing UX/UI for digital products and services, using design software such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to communicate interaction and design ideas.
• Present and defend designs and key deliverables to clients, peers, and executive-level stakeholders.
• Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define user requirements and design digital products and services that meet those requirements.
• Consult with IT to ensure digital product and service designs meet accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and ADA Section 508.
• Collaborate with the IT team to ensure that backend functionality is implemented with the least amount of disruption to design and user experience possible.
• Consult with IT to improve the UX/UI of our digital products and services with the support of behavioral dashboards set up in Google Analytics.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging design trends and work with the marketing and IT teams to incorporate them into our digital product and service design processes.
• Other duties as assigned.

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: 

• Proven experience designing UX/UI for digital products and services.
• Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong web portfolio
• Experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
• Proficiency in Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools
• Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
• Up-to-date with the latest Web trends and techniques.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and ADA Section 508.
• Thorough understanding of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services, including needs assessment, quality standards, and customer satisfaction evaluation.
• Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to analyze user needs and design solutions that meet those needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, UX/UI, or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience
• three or more years of professional experience in web design or a similar field
• Proficiency in using design software such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe Creative Suite.
• Foundational understanding of HTML and CSS is a plus.
