We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of IT to lead our IT. This strategic leadership role requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of technology, business strategy, IT best practices and, aligned with the unique challenges and opportunities of the non-profit industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the management and successful delivery of our IT portfolio of work and technology & support excellence, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies & goals, optimizing resource allocation, and driving the successful delivery of technology projects, support excellence and modern IT best practices Additionally, the Vice President will continuously improve IT processes and services, collaborate with executives and other ACS Sr. Leaders to drive organizational innovation and technology strategy, understand the technology market and trends, and leverage those trends to drive ACS strategic outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, strong business acumen, and a track record of leading a team in delivering complex IT initiatives on time and within budget, successful experience in service excellence and technological stability all while demonstrating a people-first mindset, celebrating diversity, and fostering a culture of inclusion, innovation, collaboration & excellence within the organization.

This role is a remote and can be based anywhere in the US.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILIES


General Responsibilities

  • Guide and execute projects that can involve messaging and collaboration, telephony, networking, security operations, data center, and cloud environment
  • Perform environment risk assessments and mitigate risks.
  • Participates in the development of disaster recovery plans for critical systems and drive disaster recovery testing to ensure business continuity.
  • Works in designing an environment that is well documented, sustainable, and conforms to all established technology development and implementation processes, enabling the business to service our customers as effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Use Continuous Improvement methodologies to identify and implement system improvements.
  • Cultivate strategic thinking and technical expertise in ACS to enable learning, adoption, and re-skilling in the use of scalable technologies and approaches.  Establish practices, processes, and platforms, working horizontally across the enterprise to govern and operationalize new technologies to enable broad use across ACS.
  • Collaborate with product management and executive leadership to define product roadmaps and priorities
  • Ability to create a strategic plan for Cloud Environments, Network, AI and Robotics
     

MS 0365, Power Platforms, AI and Robotics

  • Ability to build out an AI & Robotics Process Automation team and strategy that will move ACS Mission forward
  • In partnership with Support Center provides tier 3 SME support to critical issues impacting Enterprise Technology Systems in a timely and proactive manner to deliver defined service levels.
  • Oversee and manage operations of the messaging and collaboration environments, including licensing management, SharePoint intranet and extranet sites, email and email security, email signature platform, MS Teams, chat/instant messaging, conferencing platform, live video events, Power Apps, and Slack
  • Improve operations and process through documentation, continued improvement, and automation.


Network and Telephone

  • Understanding of Network and Telephony operations with ability to guide team towards improved monitoring and communication around Network uptime and outages.
  • Research, innovate and evaluate technological solutions to improve and build out the strategic technical plans that support all ACS Network, Phone and supporting applications.
  • Oversee and manage 99.5% uptime operations of the data and voice network, including: routing, switching, load-balancing, telecommunications, National Cancer Information Center call-center platform, and enterprise telephony
  • Oversee and manage Network Security Operations, including: Firewall Management, Intrusion Detection and Prevention.

On-Premise and Cloud Infrastructure

  • Understanding of both on premises and cloud infrastructure environments with ability to guide team towards Cloud redundancy for Business Continuity.
  • Research, innovate and evaluate technological solutions to improve and build out the strategic technical plans that support all ACS Enterprise servers and supporting applications.
  • Oversee and manage operations of two (2) on-prem colo data centers, ACS Enterprise Azure cloud environments, virtualization, cloud expense. Backup and recovery, VM deployments, license management, etc.
  • Oversee and management of all related technical platforms and process that will mitigate security incidents and exposure, including patching, vulnerability remediation, encrypting, security labeling, and implementing solutions to audit responses and remediation.
  • Provide detailed information during technical audits and build remediation plans for any sev 1 to 3 audit remarks.

Software Development

  • Strong understanding of software development, integration development, and architecture with ability to motivate team through tight timelines in projects
  • Ability to evaluate team’s capacity and capabilities and know when to augment their team with contractors and/or vendors.
  • Develop and maintain ACS’s integration strategy, including architecture of current integration technologies, as well as exploration and adoption of emerging tech and networks. Understand emerging industry and innovative technology trends to effectively prioritize and practically apply existing and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business operation models.
  • Accelerate the developer community by evolving the technology delivery process from end-to-end, including use of consistent configurations and tooling, embedded risk assessment and security governance, and reusable and composable architectures. Adopts a security-first design that embeds robust authentication, hardened infrastructure and resilient connectivity across Cloud and data center environments. Frames large-scale, enterprise-wide transformation initiatives, from current state assessments through technical oversight alongside the delivery teams.
  • Set and enforce code standards, development methodologies, and best practices for internal and external software developers.
  • Ensure that software development efforts are aligned with market trends, customer needs, and company goals.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of software projects from conception to deployment, ensuring they meet quality standards, budgets, and timelines.
  • Design scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures that support long-term growth and evolution.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance development efficiency and product quality.
  • Champion architectural principles such as modularity, reusability, and scalability.

Architecture

  • Provide oversight to ACS Enterprise Architecture
  • Plan, architect and execute medium to large projects, including the coordination of cross functional resources.
  • Lead the organization which will create, communicate, maintain, and ensure adherence to an architecture strategy documented in a master plan.  Develop and promote modern architectural standards and practices that encourage the digitization of business processes which make inter- and intra-business connectivity, and partner collaborations, more efficient
  • Build and lead a team of innovative and motivated architects to deliver architectural roadmaps for ACS Enterprise.
  • Provide executive leadership for the organization responsible for the cloud, infrastructure, platforms and security architecture, providing thought leadership and architecture services for all aspects of this domain. Drive adoption of an aligned vision for a modern Cloud architecture that supports agility, innovation, and resilience.
  • Responsible for ACS enterprise data and analysis architecture, providing executive thought leadership and architecture services for all aspects of data services, including data platforms, advanced analytics, data visualizations, geospatial information services, real-world data acquisition and integration, and machine learning/AI activities.

FORMAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience is a senior leadership/management role
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in various IT-related roles, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the technological landscape.
  • Experience in non-profit industry is preferred.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding of and experience in ERP, CRM, HCM, BIA, CMS, Enterprise Collaboration, SCM, Cloud Computing, IAM, Virtualization, Networking platforms and technologies
  • Knowledge of and experience in portfolio, project, and product management methodologies to support the SDLC
  • Demonstrated understanding of modern IT best practices
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IT contracting and budgeting processes, with the ability to effectively negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, optimize budget allocations to maximize value, minimize costs, and ensure management and timely payment of invoices and POs.
  • Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their impact on business operations and customer journeys.

  • Coaching skills and ability to have the hard conversations around areas of opportunity
  • Ability to create SMART goals aligned to ACS and IT KPI and Strategy
  • Ability to provide strong assessments throughout the year in 1:1 discussion with their direct reports

  • Ability to travel (by plane, train, or automobile) when necessary.

The starting rate is $180,000 to $215,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
