Built is solving one of the most important problems in the world: enabling the elegant flow of information and money between construction and real estate stakeholders. The Vice President of Finance & Accounting at Built mirrors that responsibility set at Built, by driving financial integrity and commercial thinking, strategic financial planning, and data-driven decision making across the organization. Reporting to the CFO, this leader will oversee financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, treasury, procurement, and payroll and will be a key partner to commercial and enablement functions across the business. As a member of the senior leadership team, they will need to provide exceptional leadership, establish world-class processes, and deliver exceptional decision support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead Built’s FP&A function, delivering insightful financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting that drive executive and board-level decision-making. Develop and implement frameworks for scenario planning, financial modeling, and capital allocation.
  • Partner with leaders across the business to embed our growth model into our operations and deliver commercial decision support.
  • Drive financially minded leadership via capital allocation and budget management, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and company objectives.
  • Establish and manage key financial and operational KPIs to measure and improve business performance.
  • Embed frugality and world-class resource allocation as a cultural and operational norm through monthly budget variance analysis and supporting leaders as they manage tradeoffs in resource allocation.
  • Partner with senior leadership across all functions to drive financial discipline, efficiency, and accountability in decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue enhancement, and process improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial planning with operational strategies.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CFO and executive team on financial matters, contributing to the formulation of corporate strategy and financial objectives, including organic and inorganic growth.
  • Prepare investor and board communications by developing clear, data-backed financial narratives and performance reporting.
  • Support M&A and partnership processes, bringing financial and strategic perspective to potential inorganic opportunities.

Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Supported by Built’s Controller, oversee the accounting function. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and a smooth month-end and year-end close process.
  • Strengthen internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure audit readiness.
  • Manage treasury and cash flow forecasting to optimize working capital and liquidity.
  • Oversee tax strategy, planning, and compliance in collaboration with external advisors.
  • Drive industry-leading levels of automation via technology and AI, ensuring scalable and efficient financial processes.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous process improvements within finance and accounting, focusing on automation, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Partner with Analytics, Revenue Operations, Sales, Client Services, and Product teams to define pricing strategies, revenue forecasting, and business model evolution.
  • Optimize procurement processes to ensure effective vendor management, procurement ease for leaders, and cost management.

Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous learning.
  • Mentor and develop the FP&A team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Ensure the team possesses the skills, knowledge, and motivation to support the organization's financial and strategic objectives.
  • Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, providing financial insights that drive company growth and profitability.
  • Represent the finance and accounting function with external stakeholders, including auditors, investors, and banking partners.

SKILLS

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, with at least 2 years in a VP or senior finance leadership role.
  • Deep experience in FP&A, financial modeling, and strategic finance within a SaaS business.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing financial and operational systems (e.g., NetSuite, Planful, Brex, Salesforce).
  • Proven track record of building and scaling finance teams in high-growth environments.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Exceptional analytical, process management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Built’s salary range for this position is $280,000-$310,000 USD per year. The pay range is designed to accommodate upward mobility in the role, therefore it encompasses the full span of proficiency levels for this role and we believe that the midpoint of the range is competitive in the market. Salary is just one component of Built's total compensation package for employees.
